I did a quick search in the forums and on Google, but found nothing useful (or giving me the answer I wanted to hear) Can I disable the touchpad on my XPS M1730 when I have a mouse plugged in? If so, how?

Double click your touchpad icon in your taskbar. If it's not there, then you may not have the Dell touchpad software installed...go to the download page for M1730, and download the touchpad driver under the "Input Device" section, install it and reboot.
In the first option of the Dell Touchpad software window, Device Select, there should be a check box at the bottom that says "Disable touchpad when external mouse is present". It works for me with both USB and Bluetooth mice. -
Worked like a charm, Mastershroom -- I didn't have the driver loaded. Thanks!
PS -- I'm surprised you gave me good information, since I see you're a Buckeye. Go Blue!!!! -
In that case, I take back my help!
