Hey.
I think I've read somewhere over here that disabling this will lower your temps?
If that is true, what are the reasons not to do it?![]()

Seems, that you need to do the opposite. -
I see...so it's better to leave this Enabled, to reduce heat?
Thanks. -
If you disable SpeedStep in the BIOS it will pretty much cut your processor speed in half and yes will reduce heat.
-
speedstep is the tecnology that enables the cpu to reduce its speed. -
-
well, that's not what my desktop and laptops do...
actually speedstep is the technology to enable the processor go at a speed UNDER it's rated one.
like amd cool'n'quiet, if you disable it, processor is running always at clocked speed.
edit. keep in mind that you need to also adjust power settings in windows, disabling speedstep will keep cpu speed at what windows wants: minimum power settings > lower freq / always on > higher freq. -
Ya maybe that's the problem, it's not set to the same thing in the power options because it was only at 800 Mhz ... but anyways I just left it on and set it to "Always On" mode and it stays at 2 Ghz so I'm just gonna leave it.

Yeah with SpeedStep disabled, the processor will always run at its maximum speed. Speedstep allows the processor to downclock its CPU speed to reduce heat when not needed.
