Does anyone else have this kind of discoloration under the exhaust fan? Is it because of the unusually high temps my laptop is showing while gaming? (It throttles on most games) Please recommend what I should do?

Those CPU temps are waaaay too high.
That kind of looks like dust, but I'm sure you checked for that.
What BIOS are you running? -
I don't think it is discolored because mine looks similar to yours and it is dust.
And by the way, my temp is also at ~159 after a left it on the floor (wooden one) just for web surfing. Is there anything wrong with my laptop? -

i agree that the CPU temp is too high... the max it should reach is 60degC... same with the ACPi
call dell up and tell them your laptop is overheating -
Have you tried undervolting the CPU, OP?

Get a soft bristle bursh and a vacuum and try cleaning it out.
By the way, the machine is *NOT* overheating if it's not shutting down. -

The threshold for that cpu is 105C. So 90C is getting there.
Open up the bottom and get a can of compressed air and blow it out real good. -
I think that is a speaker that you have probably turned the material (paper) brown on. I had mine open to replace hard drive and say a speaker around there.

Nope, the sub is in the front.
That pic is from the back, right where the proc is. -
If you start messing around with home remedies, and they don't work ~ Have Dell fix. You don't want to take any chances of further potential damage to your new lappy!

Thank you so much all of you for your quick replies! My laptop is barely 3 months old so the vents being blocked is not a probable explanation. Also, my laptops exhaust is not blocked by anything and it is placed directly under a fan! I guess my mobo and heat sink will have to be replaced too.
I am running all the latest drivers and the A07 bios. Thanks again! -
that vent is filled with dust, you need to take off the bottom panel and clean it out. it is an air intake, not an exhaust.
-
So I contacted Dell Customer Care and he agreed to replace my mobo and heat sink without any questions...I guess this means that they knew it has a flawed cooling design...good for me! Thanks once again to all of you!

That's just dust, perfect circle to match the fan blades. Update your BIOS and keep your system on a hard, flat surface. If you have it on a mattress, carpet, leg, etc. it blocks the intake and prevents air flow. If it continues to get that high call Dell, they're probably reseat your heatsinks or replace your mobo.
-
So the dell technician replaced my fan and heatsink with a new one today and guess what, there is absolutely no difference in the heating issues. Processor still goes to 90c while gaming at 28c ambient temperature and it literally scalds my leg. What should I do next? Ask for a mobo replacement?

The only option is to get a laptop cooler or return. Undeervolting may help, but not drastically. -
