yesterday i placed a complaint on my dispaly since there were few black spots and two white spots on my disaplay . the CC told e that they will replace it . Mine is WXGA+ display.Today a technician came along with the display. he replaced it and when he restarted the system . i noticed that the black contrast ratio were poor.. i thought it was some glare. windows booted and i viewed few photos and video just to check the clarity... they all were glaring..or say the contrast ratio was not as like my prev one.i asked the technician to take a loook.. he too found it different.. so he called his superior .. they said they will replace it again.the funny thing is the one which came new also had pixels and it had the same WXGA+ printed !!! so wht shall i do when the new display which is about tot come on monday to have the same contrast ratio.. or poor clarity ?luckily i asked the technician to put back my old display. please advice on this issue ..

Bottom line - if you are not satisfied with the replacement for any reason, contact Dell and reference your last case # and explain the issue. They will send out another tech.

Another option is to have the tech replace the LCD and before the tech departs, check over the display quality. If you are not satisfied, explain it to the tech and ask the tech to contact Dell via landline on the spot.

First of all, what is your laptop model?
    XPS M1530? XPS M1730?

    Dell has many LCD suppliers.
    Samsung, LG-Phillips, AUO, CMO etc

Unfortunately, different panels maker will have different quality (brightness, contrast etc).

WXGA+ is your resolution (1440 x 900). So Dell will replace your old WXGA+ LCD with same resolution panel WXGA+.

If your laptop is XPS M1530, read this thread and check your LCD Hardwares Ids.

mine is 1530 and the current LCD make is LG-philips but when i checked the replacement LCD it was LG alone... no philips...

does these lcd`s have any anti-reflective coating ?

coz the one i saw today looked like cheap display.... not like the current one i have now....

So Dell sent you a “matte” panel for your LCD replacement instead of “glossy” panel (?)
Glossy LCDs are said to have better contrast and colour.

When talk to Dell rep, give the WXGA+ LG-Phillips Dell part number (XP059 or KR515).

thnks a lot unlogic ... thnk u so much...

where can i find the dell part no ... its a long number...

my display looked like as if it reflects everything in the black..i mean ... the balck arent black as i see now in my current display...

is there anyother way to tell wht my current disaply is .. glossy/matte ?

and when the technician comes on monday wht should i say to him if i am not convinced... coz this time the tech tried to convince me that everything is ok and expected me to fall for it ... but somehow i managed ..

even the dell customer care which he called to asked me to install driver , adjust brigtness.. like that .. when the clarity of the monitor is very poor...

wht if they change the part and refuse to put back my old LCD ?

please give me advice on this issue.. which is wht worrying me most..

wht is the dell customer care doesnt accept my problem regarding faulty/cheap display being replaced.. since he said that the part which is replaced is exactly the same one...

This doesn't have the specific LG part number, by you might want to download this Excel spreadsheet from Dell Warranty Direct. It contains all of the XPS part numbers grouped by laptop model. ;) Very handy for later reference. For what its worth, the 'glossy' screen you are interested in is the WUXGA LCD.

Are you after the same screen as your original one?

To find your monitor screen ID...... go into device manager select monitor right click> properties> details> once in click onto drop down menu> scroll down to hardware ids now select it and this will give you the screen id.
