Here's a new one. I recieved my M1730 yesterday, started testing it, updating and everything, and I noticed the top right corner was heavily pixelated. It's as if only every other line is being drawn. It's very apparent in gaming where icons are drawn there, such as wow, but i see it in bios, start up screens, pretty much anything I'm looking at. The rest of the screen is fine. So far, I have,
    - Upgraded drivers to 175's.
    - Updated BIOS
    - Disabled SLI
    - Rotated display, it remains in the same spot
    - Cycled through all the resolutions, refresh rates avail, still there
    - Hooked up my external monitor (1900x1200) and the issue isn't there

So, I'm on chat with dell, trying to explain this because the camera doesn't pick it up so well. Any ideas?

    It is simple.

Hoepfully they provide some sort of instructions on how to remove the existing dell packaging.

The panel itself will just be one cable for the driver board of the lcd panel and one or two cable(s) for the backlight depending if the panel is lit from the top and bottom or just one side..

Don't they normally send a in home tech to do this sort of repair?

They do. But the last time they sent a tech to fix my M1530, he broke it and forced an RMA. So, I'll do it this time. I work electronics in my job, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I figured an update was due. I finally go around to sending my XPS 1730 in to depot for repair. They wanted to send a tech with a card, but the last time a tech worked on my M1530, they broke half the chassis and parts would fall of at random times. That one got RMA'd.

Anyway, I sent the 1730 in on the 20th of Nov and got it back today. From what I read on the repair order, they replaced everything but the kitchen sink. Literally, everything minus the HDD and chassis is new. But its the original SN.

It works like a champ. Haven't had anytime to benchmark due to work, but, I did run Crysis and WoW and no more artifacts. It is running the original drivers  but it has no graphical errors whatsoever. I didn't expect them to fully rebuild my machine (including the the screen bezel I broke a tab off of when I replace the screen) but they did. +1 for Dell depot.

Another Sharp. Not sure the revision or anything. But it is definitely a sharp, pretty too!
