Hi folks!
I have a problem I would like you to ask for an advice what to do next.
I have a Dell XPS M 1330 notebook with Vista preinstalled. One day my display had an display error and was replaced by the Dell repair serivce immediatly (free, within warranty). The notebook worked fine after a short test. The next day I left to a 4-month-trip to South America.
When I returned and used the notebook again it turned out that it only works for several minutes and then shows various display errors and finally ends up with an screen showing vertical fine lines in all colors and no possibility to do anything anymore.
Afer a forced restart it normally shows that a driver is missing. I already replaced all drivers with actual ones but the problem still occurs. It looks like the new display is not recognized by the system. Can it be that there is no driver existing which supports this display? Does a display even need an own driver?
As I have no more warranty what would you suggest to do next?
I was thinking about setting it up newly with XP? Good idea or do you have better ones? What would you do?
Cheers,
William

What you experience is a graphic card failure, it is a hardware error. There is no way around it other than replacing the motherboard (since the graphic card is integrated on to the motherboard). _ DELL is giving an extra one year limited warranty cover for GPU failures, therefore you should still be able to get it replaced for free. Call them up.
