I've had a Dell XPS 17 (L702x) for about a month and just connected it to my Vizeo 720p HDTV and noticed that whenever I play videos, there's horrible distortion on the TV... like a huge line going across the video, constantly distorting the picture. I'm not sure what to call it but it looks as though there's something wrong with the frame rates or something.

My friend has a Studio 17 and we connected the HDMI to his laptop and played the same videos without any problems.

I posted a picture of what it looks like (I Photoshopped it, but this is basically what happens. And it travles throughout the video. Look at the distortion going across her face).

I'd really have to have to send the computer back... can I fix it?

Edit: I have the non-3D, FHD XPS, btw.

Try make sure that Aero is enabled. Also, what program are you using to play video?

Try going either into the Nvidia control panel, or the software you're using to play the video, and turn on "v-synch". I don't know if this will work as you shouldn't have framerate issues when playing a fixed framerate video, but it's worth a try.

namaiki, I tried Windows Media Player, VLC Player, MediaPlayer Classic, and PowerDVD, and Aero was enabled.

Seeker, is that the same as "Verticle Sync"? I'll give it a try.

    Thanks for the replies!
