I bought this refurb m1530 back in May. I am quite sure that when I bought it there was a bluetooth included when I read the options.

I got a new phone today and I want to bluetooth sync it but it's not working. I tried installing the driver but apparently the bluetooth thing wasn't "turned on" properly.

    Here is my parts list

Take a look. I am sure this is the comprehensive list of stuff I have right? Is there another way to find out? BTW my bios have turn on Bluetooth option (or is this available to machines w/o bluetooth too?)

    i dont think you do...

another way to look is through device manager... right click computer (in the start menu) and select properties. on the left hand side theres the link to the device manager. look around there. since i dont have bluetooth on my computer i cant tell you exactly which thing to expand, but my guess would be to look at anything regarding networking or ports...

and yes the bios has that option even on computers w/o bluetooth

the thing with my m1330 bluetooth driver:

after clean install of vista, no bluetooth manager/drivers at all...
when installing the bluetooth + 2.0ADR driver, the installer requires me to turn on Bluetooth via Fn_F2(doesnt worK) or hardware switch(the wifi catcher stuff on the right of keyboard)... 1st time i had disable bluetooth on the wifi catcher stuff.....the solution was to install some other bluetooth driver, get the bluetooth icon on taskbar... then install the first driver and switched on bluetooth via that icon

2nd time i got smart and reenabled bluetooth on the physical switch..

is that a conclusion you made based on the parts list?

i know if the driver is not installed then it still won't show up on device manager for sure

I do not think you have it either. It's called the Dell 355 Bluetooth module and I believe it's made by Broadcom. Don't see anything relating to that.

    hold on

if its not too troublesome, open up ur laptop

remember someone with a refurb, bluetooth was just physically disconnected... YMMV
