Anyway, make sure you do everything once you get it :) all the checks and stuff... :) :) Good Luck.

    hi,
now its been few days, dell rep told me that i live in out of delivery area, so they are sending the thirdy party ppl to collect, i mean other local delivery ppl.

i was waiting for those ppl to come n pick up on friday, but they never showed up, later in saturday evening, those ppl called me and told they have received an order to collect my laptop, i replied em i was out of the city, so i will be available on sunday, that guy said ok, hes ready to collect it on sunday, but this morning i called that guy on the same number, he said he will be comin to collect, i did asked him do you have any authorization letter, he said no, he have not received any letter, so i told him not come till he receive authorized letter from dell to pick my laptop. he then said hes waiting for the authorization letter, and i replied him come n collect once you received authorization letter.

at the time of purchase they did delivered thru express, but now to collect it they say its out of delivery area, hmm how come they say that, im not moved from my place, while delivering they have coverage area, now while pickin up they say i live in out of delivery area.

im still waiting them to collect my laptop :( :(

have to see how it goes on tomorrow.

dell india support is not good like before. they started making us fool.

i have replaced lot of stuff from dell and they always pick up next day. but this time they also told me same about out of their pick up coverage area.

but my system was hardly 20 days old so i told them if they will not pick up system in 3 days i will ask for refund. and very next day they collected system from me. dont wait for authorized letter. just take the receipt that will work.

i got order number on 8th Sept. and still "Work in Progress" lolz.

but receipt doesn work maksa, since dell CSR told me to handover the lappy who wil shows the authorised letter sent by dell, also they firmly told me don give the system to anyone else unless they have a authorized letter.

so im worried, coz if i let him collect my lappy, if its goes missing dell gonna make me responisble.

    so im waiting with patience.

BTW taruian, which place in India do you reside... ??
I've lived for quite sometime in Delhi, Jor Bagh and Mumbai, Pali hill myself. Here's wishing you a great experience with the replacement and hoping you get an upgraded processor at the very least.
    Cheers.

    hi adityarajiv

    i live in bangalore,
btw i don think they offer free upgraded processor, lol
how come they provide me free goodies like such that.
its possible in us coz they need to hold the customer, but in india i dont think such works.

my laptop from shipped from dell manufacturing unit at Chennai.

also i have seen here many users got such goodies offered by dell like upgrade to new processor, don know how the things works on me, coz they provide free upgrade if the current specification is not available at inventory. so they need to keep the customers in that case these goodies stuff works.
if they have the same configuration they will provide you the same what you have during replacement.

lets see how long do i need to wait.
    :p :p

Well then... atleast your calls to the XPS customer care is either free or local... considering they are based in Bangalore itself.
Also, isn't the XPS service number 24x7. I have called them a few times during the day and late nights, and it always connects to a representative within 4 - 8 minutes.
BTW, the number I called was 080-25108033 and 011-60009045. The latter being a Delhi number which automatically gets diverted to Bangalore. Also, try calling late nights, you will almost certainly talk to someone in the States who, I believe, will be much more responsive and be in a better position to help you.
Do let us know how it works out [ :)]

And Bangalore out of delivery area... the IT hub of India and a city where the Dell Customer Care itself is located... seems someone's taking you for a ride.

Hmm... if I may suggest.. stop waiting for the authorization letter, call up Dell and tell them you are sending it yourself. Will cost you around Rs.400 via Blue Dart. It'll reach Chennai with a day, where you probably have to send it. What's more, they'll know you mean business and you'll leave them pretty embarrassed to argue any further. Will save you loads of time and anxiety.
But don't forget giving them a piece of your mind.

haha but that cost much if i call in 080-25108033, i mean the standard charges are applicable, i don know about 011-60009045, coz i always call up toll free number, if i keep callling those numbers my call charges will go much, i have tried few times ringing up 080-25108033 at the time of purchase, that cost me much, so i never try calling those numbers, those numbers are same as toll free numbers.

i don want to waste my money now, coz im jobless right now, not have much money left with me.
cell balance is running low :p :p

Ah ok... I never knew they have started making laptops too.. I knew they are were doing desktop though.. as in the manufacturing plant started in 2007 with just desktop' being made... they'd planned to do laptops but didn't know till now if they were doing it already..anyway.

And for Taruian >> 60 Kms out of Bangalore is not a out of delivery area.. My college mate got his laptop delivered to a fricking village arnd 75 Kms from Chennai... almost near Vellore.. So there.. tell them u r not taking any of those crap about being out of delivery area and such... I mean, "those" were the days.. but not now..

And Taruian > yes, I am from India.. was there till 2000. And since then been in a couple of other places.. right now in Italy. but fam' n frs n such still in India - Chennai to be precise.

LOL. Don't worry bout it man, everything's gonna be just perfect. IF it helps any, even my laptop has a gap on the right hand side, though it's hardly visible.
All the best again, and remember, do keep on updating the status constantly.
Though I really wish there was some kinda Dell Laptop owner's group in India. Would put all the more pressure on Dell for quick and satisfactory resolutions.
    Amen to that.

my town is exactly 60kms from bangalore, at the time of ordering m laptop they told you don need to go n collect, we will delivery it to your home at right time, n we have much coverage area.

CSR asked me that, sir have you moved to any new address. coz those factory ppl at dell told me that its out of coverage area, so they will collect it from thirdy party by sending them. so it will take a 2 more delays.

lol i replied im stayin where im, lol i never moved.

Don't mistake me, but I think this has got to be one of the 'longest' haggle with Dell :D :D :p and Taruian >> I think you might want to blog this whole thread in some popular blog site on the web.. I remember long back seeing another user posting his hassle (but he didn't deal with dell, it was hp I think) but a huge page complete with everything like here.. and u know what? guys all over HP started writing to him personally wanting to help him resolve the issue and such... lol.. he was some prof/teacher somewhere I think.. this page was part of his website and such.. anyway.

fonduekid, it may look funny, but posting such on blog site will not help much tho, except receivein lot of comments lol, dell will remain same, coz its getting delayed by pickin up. as he told within 2 days they wil pick up, now the days moved to 5 on tomorrow. dell will easily blame on thirdy party for the delay, since they are into business they got many ideas to work on with,
tho a single laptop for them is not worth, if their customer care is considered.

i did wrote on dell blogspot, there in a guy named todd replied to my mail saying he will do his best to get me help. haha also its not good to ask for help from others, also its a dell's responsibility to take care of their customers whenever they have issue. but dell rep need to call us and enquire about the problem whether did it solved or not.

but here in india we are faced to call dell and reminding them often many times a day about the issue you are having till it get solved.

the thing we get posting the issues here is, an idea about dealing the situation.

they say 24x7 support, how come they have no service on sat n sun n also from 6pm evening till morining 9am from mon-fri.

lets see how it goes on tomorrow.

No, I didn't mean it to be funny... it was just to lighten up the mood but at the same time get some point across.

And these things do work, where once u put up issues on the public, and many people start seeing it, then they do speed up with whatever they are doing. Anyway, hope you get sorted out soon and get ur system in good condition.

    hi
Finally they have picked up my laptop on yesterday noon, without a docket number, i did hand over the laptop to the personnel who came to my house.
a personnel from dell assured me the entire responsibility till it reaches chennai plant, she told me to hand over the laptop without docket number, and it will be ok and she will be providing me a docket number soon, finally i did by relying on her words.

this morning i did called up the logistics support who picked up my laptop, and asked him about the docket number, then he gave the docket number.

this morning dell CSR called me on phone, said he will process the new order, and he said i might receive new order this evening, but he hasn't send any yet, also he assured me that new laptop will be delivered on next week Wednesday or Thursday.

need to wait, till nxt week.
