One of the rubber grips on the palm rest of my Studio XPS 13 has fallen off, so Dell is sending a service technician to replace the entire palm rest assembly.

Does the warranty cover both replacement and service charges? Am I expected to pay anything?

I'm having my screen replaced in the coming days. I'm pretty sure both your problem and mine are covered under the warranty and they shouldn't charge you.

Yes, your Complete Care ~ "OnSite" will cover the entire Palm Rest Assembly, it is part of your warranty..costing you nothing.

When I had my Palmrest replaced on my 1530 = no cost.

The Onsite Technician was going to replace my PalmRest, sides, bottom carriage on my XPS 1640 last week, and that would have cost $0, also. :) It's a nice warranty to have.

If they were going to charge you for anything, it is their responsibility to advise upfront.

Oh why yes, OnSite is wonderful... when they actually offer to send a technician. Last time my palmrest was replaced, it was replaced by ME. Dell shipped the part to my address and didn't even offer to send a technician again... guess they all got sick of being called in for my 1530.

Good luck on your repair, though. I hope it goes smoothly for you!

Lucky you!! I WANTED to replace the items on XPS 16 myself, but the warranty wouldn't allow it. So of course the Dell contracted techs TWICE fouled up the isntall of a new motherboard and LCD so now I'm stuck in system replacement HELL....no wonder this country is going to HELL in handbasket....lol

I'll keep that in mind, thanks! It's just sad when I know more about my system inside and out than the techs Dell sends.....ugh I mean, it's not rocket science, ya know?! lol
