    Hi all,

I have had a little mishap with my Dell installation of Windows 7 and ant to do a Dell Factory Image Restore but I don't appear to be able to.

I F8 and select 'Repair your computer' and then 'System recovery options' but Dell Factory Image Restore is not there. I still have the recovery and OEM partitions on my drive so am dumbfounded why the restore option is not there.

Any ideas if there is another way to activate ell Factory Image Restore?

    Thanks,
    Karl

It's supposed to be there in Repair my Computer. Looks like your recovery partition is hosed.

Can you still create recovery media?

Do you have the Dell backup disks, one for the OS and the other for the drivers? You really don't need the partition if you have the disks. And if not you can order them from Dell here: Dell - Support.

Most of the time when I reformat a new system I get rid of those original partitions anyway. You just need the OS & Drivers which can be downloaded from Dell's website.

Agreed -- if the drives weren't so big these days, I'd zap the restore partition, too -- but as it is, it's there for giggles.
