as title says + would a overclocked 8600 GT run around the same speed as a 7900 GTX ?

bump........

I wouldn't recommend overclocking this laptop unless you want to fry your motherboard.
Not fast enough for you already? -
mine is going to 725/2100 for bench and 700/2050 for gaming
-
would the 8600 GT play games at 1440 x ?? on high settings with these games.

I just get the feeling from reading around that this graphics card isnt that fast at all when you even compare it to older cards like the 7900 GTX -
It's definitely slower than the 7900M GTX and won't reach that speed even with overclocking. The 7900M GTX, you will not find in a 15" notebook as it is a high end card. The 8600M GT is midrange and is the replacement for the 7600M GT. Be careful if you overclock, I hope you know what you are doing.
-
That's impossible...the highest the 8600M is going to go is 715/1425/1055 and you'll definitely FRY your GPU if you actually do that...2100? what do you have? 8800GTX? xD
Mine's in the sig...the most stable clocks for my lappy....60 idle and 75-80 gaming w/OC, and I'm using the 177.73 (the OGL 3.0 version is a bit slower than the .73)...and yes, it plays games like Crysis with mid-high settings 1440x900 with 25-30fps (more than playable)... -
I can play all games in The Orange Box at 60 FPS, on high (not max), and at 1440x900.

u can probably play Steam games (CSS, HL2 ) fine on max (or close to max) on the 8600....
overclocking adds like 2 fps?>.... rather not do it on a laptop like the m1530 -
wow congrats on that insane overclock! I was sure that taking the card so high would just instantly fry it, but i guess its not true anymore. How are you keeping temps down in game or keeping the card from downclocking itself due to insane temps? The most i can take my 8600mgt is 665/850 and it'll downclock after that.
-
Thats a pretty amazing overclock. Temps for you seem really low for your overclock speeds. What are you doing to keep it so low?
Mine clocks are currently 665/850 and would like to take it up a notch if i can! -
I am using titan cooling pad and never seen temps above 79-81 degrees in these greats hot here in my room.
When I am saying 2100 I mean 1050, it's just effective clock. You better tell me how you can O/C your CPU?
I have tried with ClockGEN, but it doesn't recognize my PPL correctly..What's the secret?

It puzzles me how even with all the known problems with the Nvidia GPU people are still overclocking it
Is the 5-6% increase really worth the trouble of pulling your hair with someone in India?
Maybe the whole Nvidia GPU defect is not as bad as portrait by the media ? -
you can usually get +20% performance with a good overclock, and between talking to people in India and worry about how the media portrays defective Nvidia chips, I bought a laptop cooler and guess what, i wont be worrying about my 'defective gpu' overheating anymore.

the whole nVidia GPU defect is mostly by inquirer, known nvidia basher.... so its probably a little exaggerated or something..
besides, why NOT do it now? Dell's hopefully going to give u a 1 yr GPU warranty, they probably cant detect the OC if the GPU dies(it doesnt die suddently.... so u'll revert the OC when it shows signs of it)... and OC probably gives you a faster 'death' rate if your GPU is indeed bad.... two birds with one stone, i'd say...
Does the 8600 GT in the M1530 overclock well ?
