    Hi,

I am trying to figure out if my card is bad or my reader cant read a 4gb SDHC SD memory card. Does anyone know if the M1210 should be able to read it?

    Thanks,
    Rich

Most laptop card readers are not SDHC compatible. It is likely yours is not either.

If you go to Best Buy, or any other brick store, you can pick up an SD reader is that is SDHC capable. Try the card that way to know which part is bad.

Does the M1210 read a micro SDHC card with a regular SD adapter (that it plugs into)?

That is the exact same thing as a SDHC card. The adapter does nothing but reroute the pins and makes the card bigger so you can put it into SD card readers.

No for sure, just tried the 4GB SDHC transflash in an adapter.

Okay, have to ask, what cards do the laptop readers work with? SDHC cards are the main cards that people use nowadays; I am very surprised and disappointed that the readers would not read them. How bizarre.

SDHC = 4GB and above.... released june 2006, popular about jan 2007 after all those non-SDHC / non-SD 4GB complaint cards come out...

people still have cameras/phones that dont support SDHC..... and they probably wont get more than 4GB if they can survive so long at 2GB...

eg, my (new) Panasonc TZ3 camera and Samsung Blackjack II Phone support SDHC, but my mum's Dell Axim X51v doesnt support SDHC unless u hack it with a custom firmware......

some newer SD readers can be flashed to read SDHC, but besides my mum's X51v, dont remember specific names

the XPS m1330/m1530 can read SDHC cards, but thats probably a given due to the premium line....

Yes they do. I have an 8GB one right now that i use for readyboost and Backup on my m1210.

I didnt expect it to work in fact dell said it wouldnt. But the Ricoh reader reads SDHC fine.

The thing is, this is based on driver support. On Windows Mobile phones, they didn't support SDHC until you upgraded to Windows Mobile 6. So I guess this is the same for Laptops, as long as they have the driver support they will work. From what I understand, the hardware is very similar between SDHC compatible and not. I am guessing if you install Windows Vista like the above poster, they will have the drivers needed for your memory card reader to support SDHC.

Sorry to bring up an old topic but now that I am getting a 16GB Sd card for my Mini, I would like to use this old M1210 with the card as well.

Are their any drivers that work with SDHC on the M1210's internal card?
