Does the 9cell battery of the XPS 16 (core i7 variant) protrude from the shell, and if so does it protrude down, or back?

Also, it is a nice battery for the 16xx..provides a bit of elevation (allowing some ventilation). :)

It does, and I wish it didn't almost.... sure some say it is better for air flow, which yes it does def. help, but I am seriously thinking about getting a 6 because of how it will just make the whole laptop flush.... this thing is insured for a few more years I have nothing to worry about..... : )

Plus the 9 on my legs digs in if I am say like sitting with one leg folded up or however you would depict that..... anyways.. time for some green tea with lemon to wake my butt up..

Yea, it protrudes downwards about an inch which makes most laptop coolers passive cooling ineffective. :| Also wished I just went for the 6 cell but battery life would have been too short :(
