Can someone confirm if the Studio XPS 16 has got a S/PDIF output?
-
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Well, this is what Google turns up...
-
yeah i think i came across that. The reason why i'm asking if it has that output is because it means it will allow 5.1 surround sound output through one optical cable.
-
it does not, I have the XPS 16, it has a HDMI connector that outputs both HD Video and 5.1 Digital Sound but you would need some way to convert from HDMI Audio to SPDIF
-
Such a device would have to be able to contain a HDCP chip to decrypt the HDMI bitstream and break out the audio, reencrypt the video part and send out the audio unecrypted over optical. By the HDCP standard, I don't believe such a device is legal and would be very quickly put on the blacklist. -
Does the Studio XPS 16 have a S/PDIF output?
