Hey guys, I'm about to pull the trigger on the new XPS 15 but my only main concern is whether the XPS 15 runs cool for extended use. The 960m seems to consume a good amount of power so I'm wondering if the thermals are managed well. Can anyone comment on how the previous XPS laptops run in terms of heat management?

Dude it just released ... No one is going to know because it's backordered ... Previous XPS laptops have been very different since they weren't always thin and light.

Nobody knows. The laptop literally came out two days ago.

If it helps, the previous generation XPS 15 had an nvidia geforce 850m in it, and it ran warm. No guarantees that the 960m will behave the same way, but its a safe bet that the laptop will run warm or noise while full-speed gaming. Nobody will know for sure until they get their hands on an actual unit for review.

But let's be honest... Even if that laptop was a furnace, it wouldn't matter, right? It sounds like you are going to buy one no matter what.
