Hey everyone,
In the interest of not flooding the board with superfluous polls about the m1330's heat issues, I intend for this to be the second and last one that I create. However, I am now becoming equally curious about the role of the wireless card in generating uncomfortable levels of heat.
As such, please take just a few moments and cast a vote to indicate your situation with respect to the m1330's wireless card status. Some users have reported that switching their wireless card off significantly reduces heat in the palmrest area and on the bottom of their laptop. This poll will hopefully pinpoint which wireless cards contribute to the issue, if any.
And as before, thank you for your participation and assistance!
ALSO, if you have not done so already, please take a moment to vote/respond to my first poll as well, which deals primarily with the graphics card and hard drive influence on heat in the m1330. Thanks!
Steve

I deeply apologize for any distress my two poll threads have imposed upon anyone in the community. I certainly don't mean to disrupt in any way, only to contribute.

I believe you can edit most of your posts, but am unsure since NBR did change a variety of things.
But, I'll report that I have been using my M1330 (w/ X3100) on the carpet, and I do not feel any heat problems at all. The bottom stays borderline cool-warm, leaning towards warm, and that's a very good thing since it's not uncomfortable at all. The top once again is borderline cool-warm This is with the fan at low. -
I dont understand why all these heated components are such a big issue. Its a powerful notebook, its bound to get very warm. If its that much of an issue, buy a cooler.
What do you stand to gain from the poll? It'll tell you whether a wireless card gets hot or not.....then what?
Dont get me wrong, Im not having a go. I just want to understand where this will lead and what the results will truely show, since we all know how the system gets very warm already.... -
ShinyFalcon,
I always appreciate your input. Thanks again for pitching in.
Also, you can indeed edit your posts, but you cannot change your poll options.
My thought is that these two polls could eventually (over the course of a week or so perhaps) produce a recommended configuration of certain aspects of the laptop that could help potential buyers to make the best informed decisions (based on quantifiable evidence). This way, they can hopefully escape the problems that many people have reported here--we can, in other words, help them to steer around the oil slicks that so many others have already experienced.

not another poll.....
Just ask if wireless affects the heating issue if there is one. -
I'm terribly sorry for producing these polls after reading the replies from several of you on the board. I guess this is what I get for thinking of others. I must confess that I have spent a number of years moderating other forums on the internet, such as the IGN Boards, where the culture is much different. These places must have been the source of my misconception about how people here see fit to deal with problems. It seems preferred to simply follow the generally accepted knowledge rather than actually try to derive hard numbers through quick, unobtrusive polls.
Seriously, I am sorry. If a moderator comes across this message, please feel free to lock and/or delete it. I don't believe I will be creating any more topics here.

I think it would be very difficult to figure out if one wireless card gets hotter than another. As far as I know, none of them have temperature sensors.
Does your m1330 have a heat problem? [POLL 2, Wireless Card]
