Nice find
Thanks a lot
-
No worries, I was pretty excited to find it.
-
Getting it at the top.
-
Sweet, thanks man!
-
It's all good.
-
while playing games it will be in between 60-72
im gettin this one right now, will gonna test these drivers.
thx m8 for your info.
keep up
bye -
Downloaded this new driver from DELL, don't see any differences with it other than the fan seems to work a little bit more. My GPU temps. with just a slight load, range for 54C to 67C at about 66C the fan will increase in speed and take it down to the 54C-55C range before shutting down. Not sure this is anything to worry about or not. Will let you know after using the new driver for a while longer.
-
Yeah, all it did for me was make my fan run a little more often.
-
So I ran a before and after benchmark with 3dMark06.
Before, with Dells driver my score was 4297. (Sorry for not snipping out the before score to post.)
Now with the latest Dell driver for the 8600M GT my score is 4687.
I'll run a temp test later.Attached Files:

Did you have the 174.31 before?
Edit: I installed 175.97 and still have the same temperature ranges no changes so far. -
in order to install the new driver, do i first have to uninstall the old one?
-
Nope just go to the site through the link. Click download, once finished unzip file and install. There's no more to it than that. Just make sure you get the one for you card, ie 8600m GT or 8400??.
-
alright im a complete noob to this, i got hwmonitor and my gpu core ranges from 61-65 c using a chillpad that doesnt fit propely, Dell Recommended settings and just using IE. driver is 7.15.11.7431, any recommendations ? wont be doing intense gaming, yet....just moderate (warhammer40k) for now
-
Hmm that's actually high for a chillpad. I idle below 60 without a chillpad. I have the same nVidia driver and BIOS A09. Try running the laptop by itself on a wood or metal table and see the differences. If the temp goes higher while idling, I think something could be up.
-
ok i guess my "chillpad" wasnt doing much, it was a targus and leaves 2-3 in. of laptop hanging over on all 4 sides. so yea 59 c, registering 60 as my max. i havent updated driver yet though, i cant even hear my fan. the date for my driver is feb 08.
-
I prefer the 174.31 personally (the one I have now) after trying the 175.97. My idle temperatures were a few degrees lower. As gaming isn't an issue for me, no need for "better" performance; I'm more about heat issues. But if it works for you, why not. I've hit as low as 52 without any real computer adjustments. Although a rule of thumb I'd follow is that if you're going to game, you'd have to live with higher temperatures even while idling because of various settings of the card itself. Although by using nTune I did see the clock speeds fluctuating, indicating that it underclocks itself when not used.
-
how do you tell what driver you have? like how do u read it ? (174.31?) is that the one i have now?
*EDIT: the latest driver i found on nvidias site is 175.19, any experience w/ it? i feel like i should update since mine is from Feb. -
i dont even know which value to look at while using hwmonitor, Value, Min, or Max?
-
The most important ones would probably be the value (which is the current temp. of each piece of hardware) and the max so one could see how hot exactly each part is getting.
-
I posted some temp' here with the new drivers.. Please take a look if you wish

This is the first time I'd be updating the drivers on my brand new 1530. Do I have to uninstall the old drivers first or will a direct setup suffice.
-
Good luck...
PS., though I must add that the new one is good as wellTemp' are almost same or some times 1 or 2 C less, but for sure not more than the old ones
And since its been released by Dell, I would guess they did release it for a reason
Cheers.

fonduekid, I think if you went and tested your 3dmark score it'd be higher with 175.97 than with 174.31. Although going through that process might be troublesome, just so you know though. Anyway, with 175.97 I noticed that it took less time to reach higher idle temperatures, which isn't good. With 174.31 it seems I would reach a high temp then the fans would kick in very quickly and bring it back down to 58 ish while I'm still using it and not idling. Idling, I've hit 52 at times.
To read the driver version say 7.15.1 1.7597, it's the last 5 numbers, so in this example you'd get 175.97. -
Sorry, but you lost me completely, mate!!

bump...bump...bump

forget I said anything, but here is what I learnt tonight:
If you only use Windows Update on Vista 64 for graphics drivers then you get NVIDIA forceware v156.69 aka v7.15.11.5669.
If you want more recent drivers head over to: http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers and read the instructions.
I used this and am now running Forceware v177.92 aka v7.15.11.7792 on Vista 64 on an XPS 1530.
Driver Version 7.15.11.7597, A02
