Im getting this laptop in 2 days, and i want to prepare all the stuff to install now.
I want to make a clean windows install on a SSD drive that i have (replacing the standard HDD) as soon as i get it and install only the drivers i need. Could you tell me what to download?. For example, whats the difference between BIOS and BIOS (DOS version) should i install both?
    Thanks in advance !

That's for the 1645.. Most of the stuff would be the same but the BIOS will be different.

Dell has a driver and download page. The ones you will need are

Quickset (or else your CD/DVD drive won't eject)
IDT (audio driver, fixes high CPU usage with SoundBlaster)
Chipset drivers (For CPU and card reader)
Video driver (I prefer the Dell ones over ATI's generic ones)
Rapid Storage Technology (I think this adds a few functions for SSDs)
Bluetooth driver (bluetooth should work anyway but if you don't install the driver it will show up as an unknown device in the device manager)

You can probably do without most of the others, but you can see if any devices are unknown in the device manager and figure it out from there. For the BIOS you only need one, probably install the newer one (not the DOS one).

Btw, im going to wait to get the laptop first, because theres a lot of stuff that i dont even know what it does. For example, Communication, or the Dell "utilities", or the "synaptic" stuff... Also, idk what DVD-RW/wifi drivers should i install.
    Thanks tho : ).
