    Hi all

    I searched everywhere on the internet for a step-by-step manual of how to do a dual boot xp/vista on the XPS M1730 and I didn't succeed could anybody who did it already help me with it because it is driving me craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy :mad: :mad: :mad:

    is a dual boot, mean having both xp and vista installed? If so, I want to try this on my m1730 when i get it

    Thanks for ur fast the reply. I was going to use the one u sent me but the problem is I read in a lot of threads that there is a problem when u shrink the disc specially with dell laptops. So did it work with u or not

    Shrink the disc how? You mean partitioning the HDD? I had no problem with it, but it really depends on the size of your hard disk.

    Yes, it just means running any two operating systems. :)

    I have 2x160 HDD So which one should I use to install the xp in. is it the same one that has vista or the other one or it doesn't make any difference???

    You should use the first HDD, and just use the second for programs/data. :)

    just last question to be sure. if i installed the xp after the vista I am not going to do any format for the HDD and I am not going to lose any data right?

    There's some guides on that link I gave about installing vista first. You should consult them. :) You shouldn't have to format the data already there and just partition what empty space you have.
