    Hi,
I have 2 displays and want to have wallpaper that extends over both monitors, or be able to put a different background on each. I tried everything and Dell said that the nVIDIA card won't support this function. I am using the 6.14.11.6909 that I got from laptoptogo or whatever it's called. I have the XPS1530 and GeForce 8600.
    Thanks,
    G

Synergy is for controlling two PCs!

Dell reps are kind of dumb sometimes...

There is a program out there called UltraMon that will do what you want, but it costs a little money.

Alternatively, if you configure the nVidia drivers to treat the two monitors as one big one (a bit annoying, but it works) and then merge your two backgrounds into one big background...that works too.

Gak, yeah, posted too soon. Didn't notice it was just dual monitors and not dual comps.

The thing is that it says right on the nvidia control panel that you can create alternate backgrounds while running in dual mode in Vista. I really don't feel like having to have a 3rd party program do this, and I'm going to be switching between the laptop as a stand alone as well as connected to the monitor, so I don't know about upping the res because won't I have to switch it back and forth?
