I have recently purchased the Dell XPS l501x and am trying to connect it to my Sony Bravia HDTV. I am using a HDMI cable - as that is the only port available to connect to an external display - but having difficulty to get the display duplicated.

It will display on the TV with no problem, but it will remove the display on the laptop. When using Display Settings to clone the display, it keeps saying the TV is screen 3, and will only duplicate screens 1 and 2, where 1 is the 'Mobile PC Display' and 2 is 'Display on VGA'. When cloning, it combines the two on the laptop display.

What it seems to me is the laptop thinks there are two drivers for the built in display, and any external display is pushed to the back of the queue. Is there any way of duplicating the images on both the laptop and the HDTV, i.e. having the TV as a secondary display?
