I came home from a trip and unpacked my laptop from its case and went about playing some relaxing TF2. When I exited to my desktop I realized how *filthy* my screen was so I started cleaning it off...

...and then I noticed one big spot wasn't coming off. If I look at it from a different angle it disappears and its not acting/looking like a dead pixel so I think that theres dust stuck on the LDC itself.. if that makes sense.

I called Dell and they quoted me a price to fix it for $800. I asked if there was a way to fix it myself and they said they couldn't tell me.

I read a little of the " Replace Your Dell XPS M1530 Screen" thread and I was wondering if it was possible to use that method to clean this dust? out or just replacing the screen is my only option.

Feel free to throw rotten veggies if I missed this in that topic or missed it searching. x.x Also, If I have to replace the screen itself, the links in the aforementioned topic were dead on where to purchase a screen.. I'm gonna go back to reading it so I might have missed a live link but if someone could point one out I'd make virtual bacon-cookies out of love.

I guess I could try to get a picture of this dust spot if needed. Just let me know.

Meh....Give Dell $800 to repair your screen??? NOT! :nah: :twitchy:
You could take that $800 and replace with a brand new lappy...and several new screens, as much!!! Gotta love Dell..really.

I take it your warranty is expired on your 1530. :(

Your better off going on ebay, or something, and finding a replacement screen and/or doing the fix yourself. With the guide it's not that hard to do. ;)

Hahaha. I almost laughed when they quoted me the price. I said I could do it myself for a fraction of the cost but they refused to help me get the part number or details.

Yeah, my warranty was up in March. >< $400 for another year warranty was money I could not spend.. x.x; Thankfully my HD has not failed for the 4th time. I love the laptop but the crappy support I got almost made me regret it.

I just gotta keep browsing that guide for the part info I suppose.
