I tried calling their support number yesterday evening and after a 45 minute wait, I realized I have better things to do on a Saturday.

Today I waited 90 minutes on Dell Chat before someone showed up, then promptly disappeared.

Is there a way I can reach Dell support without having to take a vacation day from work?

i like the online chat... everytime i've done it, usually short wait times (<2 minutes), once 10 minutes... you can do other stuff while you chat with them( they take some more time to get back to you, but you have a log)...

i am under dell xps (premium) support, not sure whether studio xps has such services... the regular inspiron probably has longer wait times.... hence, get xps, or buy from the Business section(better service)

I've noticed XPS support normally takes less wait time. Mind you, the last 3-4 weeks of my life have been hell in terms of Dell, since they keep messing up fixing my laptop or my replacement, so I had to always call in and manage stuff for them. However, XPS phone wait times for me have been under 1 minute initially, but they occasionally do put me on long holds.

Another idea is to escalate to a manager/resolution specialist if your issue is big, they seem to be more aware of what's going on.

XPS support typically has a lower wait time. It's part of the premium price you pay for the systems, or so I was told. For other support, I find it is best to call on a week day, usually when most people are at work or late at night which can be tricky if you can't get away or take a break from work. The weekends are the worst time to call.
