I'm wondering how effective the cooling in the XPS M1710 is when running two copies of Prime95 (one for each core) on a T7600 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo based machine ?

How hot does CPU get after certain intervals ?

How long before Prime95 errors out ?

download speedfan or some other tool can monitor the temps and watch how hot it gets.

    I would if I could, but I'm still running on an Inspiron 8100 P-III M 1.2GHz. ;D

I'm looking to get a new laptop (an XPS M1710 is favourite at the moment) in a couple of months, and was curious about how the M1710 performed with regard to cooling.

    She is running now.

I should not that with hours and hours of oblivion I noticed that my lap gets really warm but the fans are not noisy at all.

Anyone have the max rating for T7200 and nforce 9250gtx? Or the ram and chipset max?

if your not overclocking any components, and your system is not clogged with dust you should not be able to reach a failure point with prime, the torture test is most useful to find out how far you can overclock your cores/ram and have a solid stable system, it does nothing to test your video card or chipset

Well I ran the ram and CPU torture test to see how loud and what temps I would see. 2 hours each test.

Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T7200
    Northbridge Intel i945PM rev. 03
    Southbridge Intel 82801GHM (ICH7-M DH) rev. 01
    Memory Size 2048 MBytes
    Memory Frequency 332.9 MHz (1:2)
    CAS# 5.0
    RAS# to CAS# 5
    RAS# Precharge 5
    Cycle Time (tRAS) 15
    Bank Cycle Time (tRC) 21
    nForce 9250GTX

    CPU max. 78c
    GPU max. 78c (gaming)
    Memory 61c
    Chipset 60c
    Hardrive 49c

The fan was noticeable not any background noise would drown it out easily. I have had fans rated at 16db that where as loud as the fan in the system.

Other then the bottom being very warm I did not notice any thing out of normal. Touch pad and all are warm but not hot.

I am happy with the results but will not be overclocking so don't ask.
