Hello all. I have stuck it out with the RC 7100 RC. Got burned out by all the builds, although it was a hell of a lot of fun! I am looking to hear from fellow 1640 users experiences thus far with 7600. I purchased a few 7's via pre order and am Debating just running the rc until Oct. 22. On the other hand I am very curious to have a go @ the RTM. Let me know how it is going for you. Thanks.
    Regards,
    J

I am not quite sure what you are asking? The RC-Release Candidate was the follow up to The Beta. Both of these were down loadable officially from MS. The RTM-Release To Manufacturer is expressly for OEM tweak-able aka bloatware versions for most pc makers. You cannot DL'd the RTM from MS but it is available one various torrent sites, Isohunt,Demonoid etc. Hope that helps.

I was under the assumption that the RTM will be available on TechNet and MSDN in around a fortnight's time?

Yes the RTM build will be available on TechNet early August I believe, until then it is only available via sites that we can not and should not talk about here. Let's make sure this thread says nothing more about those other methods and save the mods some time :)

I have the RTM running on my m1330. The only major changed I noticed was suddenly the Quickset volume overlays work. I was really annoyed by it not working, glad to have it back.

Glad they've got that fixed, it was strange how the caps lock / num lock etc overlays still worked, just the volume one that didn't.

We aren't talking about where you can obtain the RTM.

But what's up with that? Last time I checked this site was not affiliated with Microsoft or jebus forbid Apple? Just good old censorship? Have you talked to the owner? How do you know this? Are you NSA?

still, there's the issue of licensing, and since you don't have a license, the site could get a complaint from microsoft about that... so nope

No this site is not affiliated with MS, but as part of the forum rules we are not allowed to discuss certain things, and methods for obtaining software illegally is one of those things.

We can talk about the actual software as much as we like, but discussions on where you can obtain it should be take place if these places include such things as torrent sites.

I'm still running Pre 7000 on my desktop. Had M1730 for about 4 month, it was so fast with Vista, I didn't want to put W7 on.

But now M1730's sold, I'm back to my desktop, slower with less ram. This pre-7000 build is buggy and annoying... off back to Vista until my W7 Pro disc arrives.

Why don't you go 7100? I like it, faster than Vista, no big bugs, pretty stable.

I would have, but my mobile internet is slow, and cuts off sometimes for no reason at all. Downloading some 2gb+ file would be extremely..... time consuming.

    Edit:

err.... its err shutting down every two hours... makes my day. :( s&%&w this, back to vista

Running Win 7 Ultimate (64 bit) RTM on MacBook with BootCamp. Everything is working great. It found all the devices except the coprocessor. Did some research and downloaded an NVIDIA 64bit driver and everything is working.

I am also looking at installing Win 7 to my m1330. Haven't tried it yet b/c Vista was running so well.

What he said, W7 is alot better than failsta from all of my experiences. I even compared 64bit vista with W7 32bit, and W7 was more responsive.
