nyone know how much (or where to find out how much) it is to upgrade/ extend the warranty. I didnt purchase any when i bought my XPS 15 L502x (i recived it on monday) but now im thinking it maybe a good idea as i want this laptop to last, so if its not too much i might get a extended warranty.

You should call Dell sales to find out whether the prices on the website still apply to you now that you took delivery of the laptop.

Those prices when configuring the system no longer apply. I meant to get the 1 year advanced plan when I ordered, but forgot to add it. Now Dell wants $250 just for the 1 year advanced plan. I said forget it. You can call or chat and find out the price. I tried about three different times to see if I could get the price down, but no luck.

Don't worry Dell will be contacting you (e-mail, phone,) before your warranty is up to add (give you pricing for purchase), the warranty before your current expires.

W/in the last 2 months of your current warranty..you may want to just make some calls to Dell's warranty dept. to get the best pricing. Sometimes, you can get a $50 to $100 GCard incentive for purchasing. If they want the "sell", they will work with you.

thanks for the replies i assume being in the uk will be the same procedure. Im just concerned with it being such and expensive piece of equipment, i want it to last.

My last computer (Dell inspiron 1525) is 3 years old and still going fine, i didn't bother with the extended warranties then but i have heard some horror stories.

^^Here is the link for Dell UK extended warranties:
    Dell Warranty Information

Looks fairly sim' to what the US Offers..just don't let your current warranty expire. That voids being able to purchase an extension : )
