Hey guys, I think is probably just a dream in my head, but I thought I would bring this up. I have been getting pissed with my Dell XPS M1530 a bunch lately because a good amount of things have been going wrong with it. I have mad multiple parts replaced. I think that my hard drive is now going dead. And I can not get a non buggy trackpad for it. I have been getting so pissed ive been thinking of selling it and getting a Macbook. I have a Complete Care warranty which means they will replace anything for free. do you guys think that if I complained enough, and tried to convince them enough, that they would replace my laptop in whole? I am guessing they probably wouldn't, since I have had it for almost a year, but it would be worth a try. The only thing is that they no longer offer the hi def lcd that I have in it. If they agreed to this, would they just put the 1440x900 LED in there? Let em know guys, thanks.

Get them to give you SSD drive.
Sue them if they dont give you anything you wont, since you always have problem with you laptop.
....and ask them to give one ssd to me as a bonus, will you ???

Turn on...drop in tub of water...(take video of process)=free new laptop under Complete Care...

To my understanding, anyway. No hassle involved, and it should knock out every component but the case.

The most important part of this process is, of course, the video to post here.

    Post 100...teh epic...

Also, request an SSD for me, as well. Or a gift card, OOTO...

Pretty sure that Complete care covers liquid spills. Just not "intentional" damage. Can't find the d**n page right now. I hate Dell's site sometimes. I think they rearrange it daily to keep us guessing. Not to mention my cart empties itself every twenty minutes if I don't keep the page open. (Yes, I save it, logged in.)

Sucks that your child/nephew/niece/parakeet threw your running laptop into the tub like that. ;) Thank God no one was injured!!!

    SSD, please...thanks!!!

AFAIK you have to give them three attempts at fixing things for you and then you can demand a new machine.

By that do you mean they have 3 chances to fix anything, or 3 chances to fix one thing. Like I have had the speakers changed, a keyboard sent to me, and the motherboard and the palm rest replaced. That makes 3, the hard drive would make 4. The palm rest is pissing me off as well.

Also, another one of my questions was not answered. What would they do if they did give me a new computer since they do not offer my hi def screen. Would they offer me the next best option, and get compensated with something else, or what.

They would PROBABLY downgrade the LCD to the LED 1440 X 900 resolution if they are truly out of your WUXGA LCD. Remember, they may still have the parts around, just not offering it for configuration anymore.

And if they do downgrade, they may compensate you with either a bigger HD, or more memory or something along those lines. At least thats how HP operates, i can't see Dell being much different.

well, im kinda sure that the contract states part of equivalent (or comparable if parts are not in stock).. they can say they ARE replacing the LCD, but out of WUXGA, and wont give any other compensation

but of course u can keep arging

Have you got at least BIOS version A08? The trackpad bugginess was fixed in that version, unless it's actually a faulty trackpad each time.

Dell randomly gave me a free printer when my laptop was delayed once, because they were waiting on the battery. But then other people were also waiting on batteries and talked about how they complained, and didn't get anything. I think I may have actually got the free printer because I didn't complain about it.

I have bios version a11. I don't know what I'll do. I just got approved for 1500 on a dell credit card. I might fix it and sell it and buy a studio xps 13. But I don't know.

Well. They still have WUXGAs. They're still selling m1530s with them on the EPP site.

Oooo I didn't check that. The EPP site always seem to be behind on the site updates.

You don't actually have to damage the laptop to get it repalced. Just tell Dell that you either dropped it in water, or left it on the roof of your car and drove off and it left catastrophic damage.

That will for sure get your M1530 replaced with the least amount of questions asked by Dell. There's no real way to know what they are going to send you. My suggestion is to wait and see what you get and then swap over any parts that you want to keep, ie. screen, hdd, etc.

dam, suggesting that someone break the law, seems dangerous to me.

seriously though, anyone with half a brain can figure out how to illegally get a new machine, but it isn't difficult to actually get them to replace it seance you have tried to have them fix it a few times already. just give them another chance and if it isn't 100% when it has been "fixed" just tell them you would like a replacement. sometimes it takes a bit of persistence but completely justified and you will be able to live with yourself

Well from reading posts like this it seems that nobody knows how to deal with Dell's CS to get what they need taken care of.

If something goes wrong on one of my computers, I make sure Dell gets it taken care of the first time. But its probably because I know what is wrong with it in the first place before I go to chat to start 'troubleshooting'.
