Does anyone use any external soundcards? (USB/Express slot)
I've had an Audigy 2 NX but it got zapped during a storm lol.
I'm not really sure if its even going to make that big of a sound diff on the sXPS16.
I've mostly noticed sound channel improvements when using an actual non-onboard soundcard when playing multiple streams at the same time (sounds from game, youtube, winamp, etc all at the same time).
I've mostly used creative/soundblaster products for audio in the past, but if anyone uses any other soundcards, I'd love to hear more input on those![]()

I'm getting an XPS 1640 soon. At the moment I'm using a Dell Latitude E6400. The past 2-3 years I've used a Focusrite Saffire LE for DJ'ing and music production. It's a firewire card and pretty good value for money.
For serious music stuff you need ASIO and good sound. Onboard can work all right and sound okay but I noticed a big difference when I finally got a proper card.
For everyday use onboard should be fine. -
Studio XPS can work with the CREATIVE's X-Fi software, wich improves sound output a lot (better sound in headphones and external audio systems).
It does cost you 30$, but you can try the trial version to see if it does some...
For me is very useful (as I have an 5.1 audio system), because it has CMSS-3D, Crystalizer, bass management, EAX and so on...
External Soundcards?
