Not what your thinking....take a look at this.

0 feedback, 14 days money back, free shipping, new sealed in box, "17" 1920 X 1200 Resolution!" "Nvidia 512 MB GeForce 8800 GT!", $1100?
.... It's a scam. -
and 10 available.
-
Couldn't be more fake if he tried to be obvious about it. I sure hope noone falls for that.
-
Could be real. He could of ordered 10 of these and trying to make a quick buck.

I think it's a pricing mistake. -
I put it on watch to see if it disappears. Does Dell have a real eBay store like Alienware?
-
-
It most likely is real especially since the XPS's m1730 are selling for $1100 with 9800m gt sli.
-
Real and they are a Dell partner, I have been chatting with this guy and did a lot of research to make sure.
-
No way. In the top part it says Home Premium for the US, and then in the middle (tiny font in the boxes) it says Ultimate.
-
Need to get one of those 3GB cached T8100's
-
If this is Dell then they really need to fire the guy who typed this up for their ebay store blurb.
"We ARE Dell. You are purchasing from the world's leader in personal computer sales. Our lissting are for NEW, FACTORY SEALED Computers. We build it when you order it!" -
Picture of a red M1710 mixed in with M1730? The more than familiar "Not for resale or export" warning? I'd rather get one from Dell instead with it's current pricing. Or the Dell Outlet if there's a better spec'd machine~
-
I'm leaning towards fake. The only reason I think it may be legit is that the price for what you get is in line with the current Dell "special" pricing. Usually scammers show extreme configs for real cheap prices.
-
The Identity has been verified by Ebay. Pretty crappy page layout if it really is Dell though.
-
Ah the special 1730 with 3 gigabyte cache, 7200 revolutions per millisecond drive, incredible software inclusions that deserve and exclamation mark like Adobe Reader, and the never before seen Vista Home Ultimate.
-
Hey I write my listing like that...lol!
-
I think this has got to be the greatest terms that I have ever seen..

That's me out then .....
-
and the US government.
-
LOL thats awesome

I asked him who he was, and this is the response...
My name is Anthony Shaw. I am the Program Manager at Dell in charge of the Dell Ebay Store.
I'll allow my email address to be posted on this response to show who I am.
I assure you, this is a real site & I represent Dell Computer Company of Round Rock Texas.
I will contact my ebay account Manager to inquire about how to make this more evident on future listings as well as hour home page.
You will see drastic changes to the Home Page over the next 10 days as this was a "quite" launch to test our internal systems.
I do thank you for your response letting me know we have concerns regarding our messaging.
Anthony
Well Anthony, you are a horrible speller, and worse liar... and of course... no email attached... OH, and it's Dell, Inc... NOT Dell Computer Company. -
Any of you guys that think this is real: wait to see if his feed back increases to at least 4 @ 100% ....
My guess is that he will get a few folks and delete the ID. -
Ask him for his email again.
-
My vote is fake since there are major spelling errors and typos.
Anybody else heard of a "Credit Return Authorization (CRA)", I thought it was a RMA, Return Merchandise Authorization, although I guess companies could have different names, CRA still seems weird.
Here's the kicker: "Ship the products at your expense, and insure the shipment or accept the risk of loss or damage during shipment."
Dell always sends a prepaid label, even if you are requesting to return it.
They also have the wrong pic for this one XPS One -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Search before posting lol, Dell is having a sale... That must be an offsite deal
Seriously, you guys that's a crap deal, so even if it was real wouldn't be worth it... Dell is having a closeout sale on their website... M1730's with dual 9800 GT's starting at $999... Go check it out

Here is what he emailed back... It's a real Dell.com email, but still not convinced.
Exactly what company knowledge are you referring to?
My direct contact information is [email protected]. It links directly from our Dell_Clearance_Store account.
I'm sorry if this is not adaquate, but you'll also notice we are an Anchor Store & the address is verified by ebay.
Sincerely,
Anthony Shaw -

Im guessing that it's a product which they cannot even sell anymore (given it has a single 8800, a 160gb hard drive and other lower than current specs) One of the Employee's got his hands on an extra for free or at discount and is trying to sell it over ebay for a jacked up price (this 1730 is an older version) his English probably isn't so good becuase he's Indian, probably a Tech help guy or something
-
anyway i would still buy direct from dell
the specs are a lot better -
Well, he is chatty..
Were I in the office on the weekends, rather than monitoring the site from remote I'd call you direct to verify!
If you wish, when I am back in the office Monday morning at Dell Corporate Headquarters in Round Rock, Texas I'll be happy to call you direct.
Or, email our Account Manager with ebay Andrew Fullmer ([email protected]) to verify. He'll know me by Tony. (Short for Anthony).
And the Laptops & Single Desktop that I have listed so far are, in some cases, unique configurations prepared just for ebay.
I personally worked with the XPS Managers at Dell to develop these configurations as we call them, and have exclusive codes for each. So, yes, it's possible that the same one is or is NOT available on our Consumer direct site, Dell.com.
I can understand your concern.
Regards,
Anthony -
Nice investigative work. Now call Dell and have them verify the email address and ebay listing.
-
It's either fake or Mr. Shaw needs to get fired for some really sloppy work. -
BTW, your link has the 9800GT as a $450 upgrade!
We all know that deal exists and that's what Mandrake was referring to when he said it may be legit due to the fact that people actually CAN get the M1730 for less than that from Dell, and potentially could turn them around for a profit.
That deal was first posted in the M1730 owner's lounge a few weeks ago, then made its way into its own thread in the tech bargains forum here, and was posted on Slickdeals today. (Which probably means it won't last long from Dell any longer) -
Well Andrew Fullmer is legit, don't really know what that means as to the Dell Clearance store being legit though:
http://myworld.ebay.com/[email protected]/
If it is real, whoever was given this project should be fired. Looks like they've never used eBay before (listing with Turbolister!!!!) haha, i can't imagine a big company doing that. Along with the mismatched pictures, bad spelling, typos, and overall cheap looking listing. -
I just asked this question:
-
A "quite" launch? Guess we know where all the mistakes came from.
-
Still nothing sold. Maybe they'll realize all their mistakes and start over.
-
Ironically, Dell tried a stab at ebay back in 2002 and failed.
Dell Financial has a nice ebay presence.

-
wow ''the dell's seller'' doesn't know how to lie...
-
yeah he has no feedback also looks and feels fishy to me........
-
I really want that 7200r/ms drive though. That's 432 million RPM.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
I think you mean 432 thousand but ya that's hilarious lol...
-
1 Millisecond = 1,000th of a second
7,200 Revs Per Ms X 1,000= 7,200,000 Revs Per Second
7,200,000 per second X 60 = 432,000,000 Revs Per Minute. -
-
This thread just made my day lol.
Why can't scammers ever learn proper English. -
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Oh I though it said 7200 rp per second my bad
-
You would think Dell employees would be more proficient in English and more thorough.
-
I'm convinced it's fake now that the original "deal" for the M1730TEST is gone and labeled a mistake.
Fake or Real?
