I just spotted the Product Red logo on the listing for the red XPS 1730.

And if it really was Dell, I think it would look more polished like the Alienware site or the Dell Financial site.

Nah 7200rps is previous generation. Slow by today's half-billion rpm standards. Assuming a 100MB/s transfer rate for a current 7200RPM drive, I am expecting just under 6 terabytes per second with these new drives. Fast enough to stream my HD HD 3D holographic movies.

    Dear Customers,

The Dell Clearance Store on eBay is indeed from Dell. I am a member of the team responsible for running this store, and I can say that we have been live for a little over two weeks at present. This is indeed a pilot project, which is why you have not seen any publicity and admittedly our visual imagery and design is not quite up to Dell standards just yet. However, all product listings are indeed as stated - we are only selling new, built to order systems, and new, straight from our distribution center electronics and accessories.

Please feel free to engage us via our store: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Dell-Clearance-Store__W0QQ_armrsZ1
or on this forum as you prefer. I'd love your feedback on how we can make your experience with us as beneficial as possible. Thank you.

    Dell Dude,

Thanks for the reply, as owners of the XPS M1730's were looking out for our fellow soon to be owners. Although we can't say that your not a legit person or company? anyone selling a product that isn't correct would ring a bell. So we would advised our soon or existing owners to beware. As there have been scams all over ebay! Hate to see a inoccent XPS buyer get screwed!

    AlienContact,

Thank you for your response. I agree: the last thing I would want to hear from any of our customers is that he/she was scammed by a purchase on eBay. The XPS M1730 is a great product and we expect that anyone who purchases this product will be pleased with his/her purchase. Dell is working on establishing our value proposition on eBay, but we encourage anyone with questions/concerns to engage us on eBay or via this forum, or just to purchase a product on Dell.com, via our phone queue, or via our retail partners. However, I would keep an eye on our eBay store as you should see more and more unique offers available for your consideration. Thank you.

Yeah, the main thing you need to do to make it look more legitimate is make sure the images and specs are actually all correct. Maybe while the project's new, provide a link to an official Dell page with a link back to the listing or something to ease people's fears.

    Nition,

Thank you for your comments. I agree that we have some work to do on our content and imagery and appreciate everyone here calling out any errors/omissions that you notice. We have our design team working with eBay at present to give our layout a more "professional" perspective. In terms of an official landing page on Dell.com that references our presence on eBay, stay tuned; that dialogue is already underway.

    Achilles,

Thank you for your question. It would be an inaccurate to say that we have run out of space on Dell.com; a better statement would be that we are looking at new ways of how and where we present products to our customers. Thank you.

Honestly, i bet somebody that e-mailed him on eBay mentioned the forums and maybe even this post and now whoever the seller is came over here to "ease our concerns"

ANYBODY could get on and post the things that Dell Dude is.

    tmaxxtim,

Thank you for your comment. The reality is that eBay provides anchor stores with insights so we can determine where our traffic comes from, and this is what brought me to this forum. I understand your skepticism, so please allow action to replace words. I'll be in touch when we provide updates on both eBay.com and Dell.com that ensures that this audience knows that you are dealing directly with Dell. Thank you.

    Ripfire,

Please note: we've received our first feedback (100% positive). While it's only the first feedback, no indication was made by the buyer that we were anything that what we say we are: this is indeed Dell. Expect more buyer feedback over the next couple of days. Thank you.

    Hi Dell Dude,

In the interest of providing your customers with an assurance of to the legitimacy of this Ebay store, can you please post the name and office phone number of your direct supervisor or manager?

Secondly, to what extent is Dell's customer relations office aware of this Ebay store? Would you kindly post a name and phone number of a customer relations staff person who can answer additional questions about your site?

Please excuse the skepticism but I trust that in an effort to solicit our business, you'd be more than happy to supply the above requested information.

    Thank you.

    He is from Dell.

Reseller/Retailer status (Silver Usernames) are given to employees and/or companies so they can be recognized by members. They are bound to certain advertising rules.
