I'm having a problem with the FastAccess facial recognition software that came with my 2 week old L702x. It tells me a new update is available and asks do I want to install it. When it goes to install the update, it gets halfway through before telling me I need administrator rights to access:

    c:\Program Files(x86)/Sensible Vision/Fast Access/vendor

Cancelling installation removes the Fast Access software.

I am logged in as an administator. Checking the security properties for this folder tells me that it is unable to display the current owner of the folder. It also won't let me take ownership of the folder.

Any suggestions on how to get around this and update the software? Thanks in advance.

Launch the updater directly through startmenu by right clicking on it and "run as administrator". See if that fixes your problem. Is there any chance that you can send me a copy of your fastaccess installation file? I uninstalled mine and can't find it anywhere. Thanks

I just seemed to have fixed by setting up a new adminstrator profile and using that to change the security settings on the folder.

As for sending the file, it's a whole CD that came with the computer. Many, many files.

That folder seems locked only if you hadn't rebooted after installing/uninstalling/updating it. I encountered the same problem and that fixed it.

Try smartsource.dell.com to see if your software is there.

You are lucky to get a CD for it. That is exactly my problem. I didn't get any CD and the software isn't there on smartsource.dell.com :(

You may be able to get some help updating your version of FastAccess by going here; Sensible Vision > Home

How to get a replacement installer file depends on the version you want to use. If you're interested in upgrading to version 3 ($14.99 through Sensible Vision for existing 2.X users), then you can download the version 3 installer file freely from the Sensible Vision website (the big blue "download" buttons). The link to the $14.99 purchase page is actually contained within 2.4.97 so if you can get to that version first that's the best way but if you can't then write to us and we can make individual arrangements as needed.

If you'd prefer to stay on version 2 instead, you can get your original installer from smartsource.dell.com, by calling Dell and asking for a replacement installer CD (which they should be able to provide), or by writing to Sensible Vision. We (Sensible Vision) in particular can help to provide a full installer of the very latest (and last!) 2.X level software (2.4.97) if you need it.

    Thanks!

This program is driving me insane.

I was having the same problem as the OP until I ran as admin for the updates. That seemed to work, I restarted, and now it just says looking for face endlessly and the camera never turns on. What the heck is this?

That sounds to me like either a potentially bad installation (de-install, reboot, re-install) or like a problem with the camera driver. If you can use other video programs then the camera's likely fine so the first suggestion would be the way to start.
