Can any 1330 owners run sfc /scannow?:

    1. Type "cmd" in the search bar, Run As Administrator
    2. Type "sfc /scannow" in the command prompt.
    3. Post your results in this thread.

After at least 10 clean installations, I've been experiencing a corrupt and unrepairable autochk.exe file, most likely ever since I received the laptop (last June). I was wondering if it was inherent to the 1330 model (drivers, etc.). Thanks in advance.

@paper_wastage: are you using Dell's Vista disc for the clean installation? Ran a test on the hard drive/memory and found no problems.

Yeah, it contains the logs of all past scans. What you can do is right click on the CBS.log file and drag/copy it to your desktop. Open it up and ctrl-F to search for "cannot repair". Jump to near the end where the time stamp is around the same time you ran scannow. There you should see which files it could not repair.

Mine has problems as well. Wish someone could help interpret what is wrong.

I searched through the file for cannot repair and they are all about the Windows Sidebar and Windows Printing. Wonder how to fix this.

@xboxgon: I was looking to see if others were experiencing a constantly corrupted autochk.exe file.

@johnny13oi: If you do not use the windows sidebar, I probably wouldn't worry about it. However, you can try and repair those files by taking ownership of them and replacing them with fresh copies from your Vista CD as documented here:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

My problem stems from the fact that the file always gets corrupted, regardless of a fresh install or a fresh copy of the file.
