Hi,![]()
in italy I now see that there is no mention to "ultrasharp" technology about the WXGA+. I am understanding that possibly this term, ultrasharp, is not used in USA. As in italy and UK site i can tell you that this tech. should provide more brightness, and a faster response from display... better quality!
usually quite any display is Ultrasharp. And on XPS the WXGA abd WSXGA+ are shown as ultrasharp and True Life. The WXGA+ says only True Life. Anyone knows about the quality of WXGA+ CCFL (AUO? LG?) on XPS 1530? Please...![]()
Can someone tell me how is this screen? Brightness, contrast, viewing angles, image quality...
Does anybody know if a True life can be not Ultrasharp? A technician from USA told me that an ultrasharp can be matte (note true life9, but true life technology can be mounted only on ultrasharp displays. I do not know if this is true...

No one knows?
Sorry to insist, but it is my last chance to get the notebook I wanted and a good display. They will not change my note or display twice...
i want to be sure! -
Same screens are mounted for Italy notebooks and US. I think ultrasharp is not so important....
and i'm italian -
My screen is of poor quality when rendering detailed graphics despite the 256MB graphics adapter set to ‘high quality’ settings and I shall likely wait until a suitable 1680x1050 screen is available in the UK before committing to a another purchase as the 1440x900 just feels to clunky by far, in the meantime my machine is going back.
I'm a UK user so the only option for me is TruLife, and it seems even asking Sales for other options get's a limited response. -
You answered me also there! But, what makes you so sure that Ultrasharp is not important. Think it well, it is my last chance to get a good display...
Maybe you could call to your Customer Care or Tech support and /or sales rep and ask if this WxGA+ is or not ultrasharp. -

I have the WXGA+ and I love it. I happen to have the LG version. It is very bright with crisp images. The viewing agles are pretty decent considering it is a CCFL display.
The other poster which states his is not of good quality when rendering certain images must have gotten a bum display. I work with many graphics and mine is quite good. Although, you will still get more detail available with a higher resolution. I've worked on other laptops with the WSXGA+ and on such a small screen the difference is negligable between the WXGA+. Connected to a larger monitor, is a different story but you can always connect to a monitor with a higher native resolution. -
This was helpful, thank you a lot! So, did you saw a WSXGA+ Ultrasharp Truelife good (LG...), and you think it is safe to take the WXGA+ non ultrrasharp as it is not noticeable the difference on a 15.4"? Talking of brightness, image quality, contrast, and viewing angles?
If it is so, and if there are complication with the WSXGA+ (missing in stock, and I must travel, I can't risk a delate), I would fell more tranquil in taking a WXGA+. I was not sure because it is the only one available at that res., which means that technicians have got no other to change it. While in WSXGA+ I can get the LG, and if I get the Samsung maybe is good, and if not I can change it later... -

You begin to classify the display as ultra sharp with the WUSXGA which is 1920 X 1200. I do not have experience with the WUSXGA which is the ultra sharp as very few 15.4" laptops have this resolution. You will typically see this on 17" laptops and higher.
I do think it is safe to go with the WXGA+. I am not sure in your country but here we can get the LG WXGA+ I find that the viewing angles on the WXGA+ are better than the WSXGA I've seen. The WXGA+ also appears a bit brighter than the available WSXGA screen.
Images on the WSXGA however are a bit sharper and seem to have more detail than the WXGA+ but I don't find it drasticly noticeable on a 15.4" display. I use to have a 17" laptop and you can better see the improvment with the WSXGA+. I don't think you can go wrong with either, as what size you choose will mostly depend on your needs and what you use the laptop for. I don't know if there are any delays with either of them. It would be wise to ask sales rep when ordering so that you know if there are any.
Both are good screen resolutions but you always risk them sending you a sub standard in any size. Sometimes luck dictates which you get. If you feel more tranquil with the WXGA+ then you should go with what will make you comfortable. -
