After about a week and a half of twisting, tweaking, and talking to reps and getting some solid help from the board here, I put together what I think is the best deal I could have expected:

    XPS 15
    i7-2630QM
    6GB RAM
    15.6 FHD B+RGLED TL
    GT 525M 1GB Graphics Card
750GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
    Backlit keyboard
Tray Load Blu-ray Disc BD-Combo (Reads BD and Writes to DVD/CD)
    Intel© Centrino© Advanced-N 6230 & Bluetooth 3.0
90 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery

    The to-my-door price is $1,054.
I don't think I can find a better deal anywhere. Speak now or forever hold your peace. ;)
Thanks for all the help, folks.

For a $1k plus machine I'll always recommend at least a 2 year warranty. Laptops tend to start breaking down within the year or shortly after.

That configuration is very similar to the one I ordered a few days ago, except I opted to get the back-lit keyboard as well.

As far as the warranty goes, you can always upgrade it later on as Dell will send you offers in the future asking to extend the warranty. And from the last time I purchased a Dell system (2004) they will also send you one asking if you wish to extend right before your original warranty is about to expire.

Yeah, while charging you about $200 more for it than if you get it from the start lol. Oh Dell...

If your Laptop is still going strong after that first year of warranty, I personally would not extend it. Pretty much need to break in your laptop within that first year to make sure it is up to par.

On a side note, I've had my Dell 700m laptop for 7 years now and its still running strong and never gave me any problems. Just got tired of the slowless and tiny 12" screen that I upgraded to the XPS and 1080p!

BTW, if you order with an American Express card, they will add an additional 1 year to the warranty for you.

    I could be wrong but...
I just priced the same specs for $1384.99 (did not go so far as to figure tax...that depends on what state you are in), using the DNDADU1 code that 'expires' Monday. It is for $455 off. So...in the end, I'm not sure all your machinations amounted to too terribly much.

Beats my order by 9 bucks, plus you got a 6230/Blu-Ray/9Cell vs my 1000/DVD/6Cell

Where the heck did you get this deal? USA? Canada? Netherlands? Etc?

In my state the tax rate is 6%, which totals $83 on your figure above. That's $1468 vs my total of $1054. That's a bit more than a $400 savings. Not a life changing amount, but well worth the effort in my opinion.

Ummm, no. That $1468 after your 6% tax is BEFORE the $455 off coupon, making for $1013. That's $42 cheaper than you paid.

Thanks for considering me a 'genius'...but really, it doesn't require any more than my fingers to calculate that: $1468 - $455 = $1013.
Your to the door price: $1054 vs $1013 = $41 extra you paid. Still, you have a good price.
