    So, the XPS M1530 I just ordered has the following hardware/software specifications, if anyone is interested in knowing what I have ultimately gone with after three very crazy days of intense laptop searching.

    System Color - Tuxedo Black
    Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8300
    OS - Windows Vista Home Premium Edition
    Screen - Full HD, glossy widescreen 15.4in LCD (1920x1200) w/2.0MP webcam
    Memory - 4GB RAM
    Hard Drive - 250GB 7200RPM Free Fall Sensor drive
    Slot Load DVD+/-RW
    Video Card - 256mb NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
    Wireless Card - Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-Card
    Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Internal
    85-whr 9-cell battery
    Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    It's not supposed to ship until May 23, which kills me...but it should be worth the wait!
    I plan on following the procedures laid out here to optimize laptop performance once I get the machine.
    nice specs.
    MAY @# *23? That would kill me... Literally :eek:
    LOL it will take a'lot of patients, though it's not like there's anything you can do about it.
    I have a dell d630 that is scheduled to arrive on May 2. It's hard for me to wait.
    Good Luck... AND DON'T DO ANYTHING DRASTIC :p
    Man I know it! Dell's the longest of any of the brands I was looking at!
    Still, I don't technically need it until August...but I'm chompin' at the bit.
    Right. Don't do anything drastic. At least I've got the prom, my graduation party to plan, oh and of course my last few classes to finish to occupy my time...
    Ordered same system yesterday, my estimated delivery date was 21st, it went into production yesterday, should be shipped in the next few days. I doubt the delivery date will be on 23rd, most likely much earlier ;]
    Vostration, Wonderful! I was hoping that something along those lines would happen.
    Phallus, what's that? Besides, the only other option was $50 more for the LED LCD and I didn't really want to push the total over $1800.
    Seshan, I spent $1767.62 on the system. Took advantage of the one-day sale plus my student discount (12%).
    Hmm. Go to the Dell UK site and type "student discount" in the search box. I always did that on the Dell US site and the first hit would be "Dell on Campus" and the student discount page.
    I wanted to order now so that if I have any problems/issues I can get them worked out way ahead of time.
    Don't worry about delivery estimates, they are wrong most of the time, I ordered mine two weeks ago, estimated delivery date was a whole month, but it came within 4 days...they were only 26 days off, easy mistake to make apparently :p.
    Cool. Well, hopefully it'll come sometime next week if I'm lucky. Maybe before the prom and I can bring it as my date!
    LOL
    Nah, just joking, obviously.
    Man, I'm so stoked...my copy of MS Office Ultimate 2007 just came in the mail, so I have my printer, my productivity softwre, my first game (just BF2 for now), and sound system all ready to go...but no computer!
    Really? I just ordered mine on Tuesday and the estimated ship date is 5/21, what are the chances of me getting my laptop early? (I got the WUXGA screen on the m1530 and that's the cause of the delay)
    Ugh, I hate the waiting part of buying a computer from Dell; love their products and prices, but they could work on production speeds or their estimates.
    Aye, well mine actually had to ship from a different country too, cos for the UK and the rest of europe they are put together in Ireland or Poland, so if it only took 4 days to process the order, put everything together, test it, ship it or fly it over to england and deliver it to my house which is some 120 miles from the nearest delivery hub for the delivery company they use, I doubt it would take much longer considering you guys are in america and it doesn't have to ship overseas.
