Finally got information on my exchange!

As some of you may know (I've been posting in the throttling threads) my SXPS1640 is being replaced due to ridiculous heat and throttling issues. I finally got information on my new laptop which actually WILL be new as it's being built from the ground up just as if I had ordered it, also included is the 130W power adapter, I have some questions about it though as I'm unfamiliar with some of the hardware in it.

Now to my questions:

1. This IS a 1647 right because of the processor that's in it? It mentions the SXPS 1645 in a couple spots

2. How much better is this processor than the Core 2 Duo P8600 that my SXPS 1640 currently has? Is it dual or quad core? Anything special I can do with it? Also, what clock speed is it going to run at? It is written out in a minimum to maximum fashion it looks like

3. How much better is that graphics card than the ATI Radeon HD 3670 512MB that I currently have in this computer?

The dispatch was created on 3-21-10 and according to the order page it went into the production phase yesterday on 4-7-10. I haven't even received a communication with my "agent" since the first one he sent me, pretty poor communication on Dells part but luckily it's one step closer to being mine! I was hoping for an Alienware but this really is a massive upgrade, specially the screen. Going from 1366x768 to a full 1080p LED screen will be phenomenal.

 

The I5-540M is an awesome CPU. You're going to love the performance.

 

Good to hear! What is the main "buzz" about the "Core i" processors? I understand that they are a bridge between the mainstream Core 2 Duo and the extreme high performance Xeon processors. Is there anything special about them as far as what I would notice in comparison to the P8600? I'm going to assume they're locked down and you can't overclock them and such.

 

The 4670 is much better than the 3670, you will not be dissapointed. (especially if they give you the proper Power Adapter for it to avoid throttling as much as can be expected).
