I guess you can keep trying. Talk to another rep if you get denied by the first maybe?
-
I keep getting this message when I try to chat with Dell Tech support "All chat representatives are currently busy assisting other customers or the queue is closed. Enterprise chat is available Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 9 PM and Saturday, 7 AM - 5 PM CST. If you have an urgent issue that requires immediate attention, please call 1-866-362-5350."
It's currently 7:10PM Pacific Time. I tried yesterday and today. Should I just email them? -
-
You don't want to have to Dial A Rep..unless absolutely necessary on this...The Chat Support is so much easier to deal with & you have better control of the conversation.
Cin... -
Nope. No luck in FF, IE, or Chrome. Ugh. I definitely don't want to call. I suck at talking.
-
Is there anyway you can try first thing in the morning?
I just wonder if the site is having some issues...
Cin... -
Yeah. Maybe tomorrow morning. I couldn't to it today because of school. But I'll try tomorrow morning.
-
-
If not, then in the AM!
Cin... -
It's just giving me a message that all reps are busy or chat is closed.
-
Cin... -
This sucks. It's been doing that since last night. Now I'm contemplating shooting them an email.
-
Tried again this morning. Same problem.
-
Three days, three browsers, three computers, countless tries. No luck. UGH. I even filled out a feedback form for chat issues. I then contacted a sales rep in a live chat lol. He gave me an phone number and email address. He got disconnected about 4 times in the 5 minutes I was in the chat with him. I emailed them. Let's see what they say. Anyone have Michael Dell's email address? I want to talk to him about his crappy website. Lol
-
I hope that you hear back soon from someone..after all of this you've gone thru trying to contact them :/
Here is Michael Dell's e-mail:
Michael Dell
Chairman and CEO
[email protected]
Here is the Unresolved Issues, link, *Just In Case*
Cin... -
Thanks a lot. I'll email Michael on Monday if something doesn't happen by then.
-
Just tried my message:
-
-
Ok I think I have a problem. Dell.com is now saying my computer doesn't have warranty. Before it used to show two different ones. And under contract type it said 5. Now it says no warranty and NC under contract type.
-
As, they did a system check & confirmed I still had my warranty "intact". The next day I checked, and all was still "in order", "as is".
Check back in the morning, I bet your information is back to normal. : )
Cin... -
Oh ok. Whew. I thought it was all a big conspiracy to prevent me from a solution. First "ignoring" me in chat and now taking away my warranty. Lol.
-
I hope you finally got through. I got that same message for a number of days maybe a month ago. It's sooo frustrating.
-
Nope. Same message today. 4 days and counting.
-
you cant make a phone call to support?
Try clearing all your internet cache and reboot. -
-
-
-
-
I don't want to call because I'm not a very good speaker and would get run all over by reps.
-
Hey guys, I just wanted to get on so I could brag a little. Dell is replacing my m1530 with an Alienware m15x
I should have it in a week. Good bye "real" life!
Keep trying guys. It is well worth it.. saves me from buying another notebook for another couple of years! If anyone is interested, I repeatedly called to check on the specs "because I major in 3D game design and I wanted to be sure I had a system fit for that." Maybe that influenced it, who knows. All I know is that I am one happy customer.
BTW - the Dell guy said that their systems are down which is why I didn't get any real specs. He just saw in the notes that its an Alienware. Could be related to your guys' problem.. I didn't get any specifics -
Nice. How'd you contact them? By phone? Enjoy your new system.
-
I just received it! I contacted them via phone. I got it before I could get the specs. Its very heavy, but I likey. Full specs to come
-
That's awesome. Enjoy. Post some pics if you can please. Comparing the two systems' sizes.
-
When you get to know your new system, etc...yes, please post specs etc
:coolio:
Any news? : )
Cin.... -
Congrats to all of you Alienware people. I can't wait to see pix. It's all been worth the weight and hassle.
Cin,
How's your 1647?5? doing?
Question: Do you guys think that Dell will notice that my return is missing a hard drive? The keyboard, touchpad etc. are DEAD. And of course I don't want my info floating around. I know I can put my old drive in my new computer... but for whatever reason, don't want to contaminate or push my luck. -
Nope. 6 days and no luck with the chat. No email reply from support either. I sent the email on Friday so I should hear back today. It says within 24 hours on the site. But I give them the weekend off. So I should hear by this afternoon. Otherwise I'm emailing Michael. The other day my CPU hit 99C and my GPU hit 97C just by playing Madden 08. GAH! Last resort is the phone but I want to avoid that as much as possible. GPU is currently running at 78C on idle with only Firefox and Trillian running.

As far as my new system... I can't find anything like the above for my new one. When I put in the service tag at Dell, it says the configuration information is not available. Here's what I've gathered though:
Core i7 720QM
1GB Geforce GT 240M
4GB of DDR3
Intel WiFi Link 802.11AGN
no BluRay
900p screen
One thing that concerns me is that in CPU-Z, it says that the RAM's "maximum bandwidth" is 667mhz. That's not even an option on Dell's site. Did they screw me over?
Pics to come!
Edit: as it turns out, they gave me 1333mhz RAM. I don't know enough about hardware anymore to explain why it shows up as 667mhz, though.
OH! And for the record, my CPU and GPU on my old m1530 got to above 100*C while using a cooling pad. This PC hits 60*C and doesn't go any higher. -
Nice. For me, Dell says they sent 667MHz RAM but CPU-Z shows 333MHz. Don't know why that is. Can't wait for the pics!
-
-
Ohhhhhh. I figured it was something like that. Makes sense now. Thanks.
-
Just got a reply to my email. FINALLY. They want to replace my mobo, heatsink, and fans. Replied that I want permanent fix, reliable system, etc.
-
Good reply!
That is usually their first response...
Cin... -
Yeah. I know, but hope that it won't be, a long battle. I also told them I'm a student with finals and such coming up soon. About a month to go.
-
I would let them replace the motherboard/heatsink/etc.. If you let them think you're too smart, they may think you're only looking to upgrade your system (let's face it, its a nice perk for many of us). Then when it comes time to bargain for a nicer system, you can tell them how you've been so inconvenienced by them replacing the motherboard and stuff. I had to get it done twice before they replaced it. I pretended like I was surprised. Then again, I'm sure its not the lowly phone support guy who chooses what system you get, but still..
Here's some pics. Sorry for the bad quality, I only have my cell phone.
BTW - I may be a little bit disappointed with the performance. Still working on it.. trying to get 3dmark06 to work so I can compare the systems, but it says "Submission Failed" and I can't view my score. Any ideas?Attached Files:
-
-
Yeah. I don't know. We'll see. Let's see what they say. Whoa, that thing is a beast. HUGE compared to the M1530. In the pic of the systems on, are both screens on full brightness?
-
Nahh sorry its not. The XPS wasn't plugged in.. but I do think that the Alienware screen is much brighter and better looking than the m1530's, and I only have the "900p" screen
-
I see. Cool. Thanks. I have the 900p right now which is perfectly fine for me.
-
im still here!! and still lovin this laptop, here are some more pics!!!
Finally, my XPS 1530 being replaced due to GPU fails!!
