    Hi,

I just ordered an XPS 17 - and its in Delivery Preparation - but i did not realize that there is neither FireWire nor an Expresscard slot in this machine?

I had bought it for Music Production as a replacement for my existing Mobile Recording rig.

Is there any way i can get Firewire onto this Laptop?

    Thanks!

sprtnbsblplya, can a user use an adaptor (firewire-usb) instead?

No those adapters do not work.

And there is no way to get FW on the L702X.

Got to find one with at LEAST an Express Port with the same specs.

I paid $1266 - here were my specs - can anyone suggest something similiar (w/ExpressCard and/or Firewire)

Just a thought, a hard drive enclosure. Connect via USB 3.0 and you may be able to daisy chain FW800 devices through it.
Closest I could think of a possibility.

Just realised that the USB 3.0 wouldn't carry the FW800 data.
It may be possible to find an external express slot adapter and use that although it isn't the sleekest method
