    So far I have:
    1. Install Firefox, antiviruses etc.
    2. Run Windows updates.
    3. Run updates for drivers.
    4. Kill Bloatware (not sure how or even what the bloatware is yet)
    5. Kill Microsoft Office starter in a painful, tortuous manner. Like, file by file. Then install OpenOffice.

Needless to say I'm excited about getting it, so I'm planning ahead

Create your recovery media via Dell DataSafe Local.

Honestly Dell's don't come with that much bloatware, it is HP/Compaq, Acer/Gateway/eMachines that come with the mountains of bloatware. I would try using the Dell stock image as it is and disable the stuff you don't need.

I would try to get a legitimate version of Office, Open Office just plain sucks and messes with your formatting.

See if you can get FireFox 3.6, I can't stand 4 or 5.

    Does DataSafe Local come preinstalled?

Dell stock image is how it is out of the box right?

I can deal with OpenOffice's issues, I really don't wanna pay and I really hate 2007/2010's interface haha.

I have a profile for firefox 4 saved to my flashdrive :D But also got 3.6 as part of a Tor bundle.

On the control panel uninstaller page, go to turn of windows services, uncheck anything you don't use, makes things that but smoother. Well did for me :]
Also annoyingly Windows Live group all there (imo S**t) products in one package, if you click uninstall on it, you then have the open to keep only the ones you want, messenger in my case.

Finally when you have decrapified, uninstalled and deleted until your heart is content do a Defrag!
