Yes, it is covered under warranty. Contact Dell and tell them one of your keys became detached and you need a *replacement* keyboard...And, they will send you a new one! :)

I had one of my Keys *pop* off on my 1530, awhile ago, and I was able to pop it back in to place by *pressing firmly* onto it. I got lucky....Later on down the road, I ended up needing a replacement keyboard though!

Had the same issue with my old vostro 1500.
Call dell, its a common issue. They will send you a replacement or let a tech do it.

Of course, it would be much to expensive to produce a keyboard that lets you exchange each letter.

    hmm thanks guys!

I just checked dell.ca and I see NO WARRANTY under my account! I had purchased an extended warranty for 1 year and I know it was expiring in 2010! Can their systems be at fault!!? I don't know where to look for the proof of purchase, searched for "warranty" in my email box and nothing... :( where else can I look?

Shouldnt it tell you the warranty in the Spec list of the email you got from them when you bought the notebook?

Yes I used the service tag. Since my initial warranty was expiring (bought laptop in 2/2008 so expired in 2/2009) I bought warranty for 1 year (so expires 2/2010)... is there a way to look at the history of warranties? I guess I have to call Dell and find out?

call dell, but don't ask about the warranty, just tell them you have the problem with your keyboard. Im sure the warranty date is just a mistake, they should agree to send it under warranty without a problem. BUT, if they tell you your warranty expired, then you should mention that you bought 1 extra year, blah blah blah...

if they get too pushy, hang up and try again. Thats how it works with Dell :D
