Every time I visit a site with a previously remembered password in Firefox, I get a thin flashing red border on the monitor as the password loads. I've never encountered this before, so I'm not sure if it's a Vista, Firefox, or M1530 feature. Does anyone know where this comes from? If so, how do you disable it?

    Have you installed Firefox extensions?

No, I don't believe I have installed any extensions yet.

This is part of the Fingerprint Reader. The only way to disable the flash is to uninstall the software (effectively disabling the reader).

Hmm...this didn't happen to me, but I wasn't using Firefox (I use Opera). I was using IE for a short period of time before I installed Opera, and I didn't notice it happening then either. Maybe you should try upgrading the software...

ok, after messing with the system files about an hour, I finally found a cure to this problem.

as khris says, the problem is caused by Fingerprint reader suite (or "Protector Suite"), but there is actually a fix and you can still use fingerprint tool. There is no fancy gui for this fix, you have to use regedit.

open up regedit (Click start, type Regedit, and enter), navigate to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Protector Suite\Password Bank

There you will see *FlashSize and *FlashColor. As you see there are 4 different flash states: Autoreplay, replay, registered site, register completed.

if you set all color and flashsizes to 0 (zero) the flashes will be gone.

Or you can modify flashsize to 1 and colors to less alarming tones. Here are some sample colours, use MS access column:
    http://www.endprod.com/colors/

Ah, don't forget to restart after modifying registry (or you can logoff and logon again).

just drop a msg if you need more help.

disclaimer: be careful not to touch other registry settings!

When I installed firefox, the fingerprint reader popped up a message asking me if I want to install the module for firefox, I chose not to. You don't have to install it.
