This is for the folding@home people:
I was wondering if the folding@home program will work on the m1530 and will I have to adjust the fan to compensate for the usage?
Any m1530 users doing it?

It'll run it, though the fan will probably be on a lot of the time since your CPU usage will be at 100%.

i dont know if folding or other endless strenuous tasks for the processor would be good for a laptop. heat could build up rather quickly, degrading the life of your laptop. Any reason why you want a laptop over a desktop for f@h?

PS3 is MUCH more appropriate for folding@home. Its not really practical with your laptop since it does put stress on your processor and may affect your usage.
If you had to choose, a desktop is better than a laptop for folding at home because they are generally cooled much better and are cooler left on for days or weeks (not that its good for the desktop). The added space contributes to more room for heat to dissapate. -
I used to do SETI@home on my laptop. I did it for a few years but quit because I was tired of my room always being super hot.

Try the new GPU client, looks sweet

I run F&H a lot. The temperatures stay down plenty reasonable and only one core is maxed out leaving the other for my general usage. No heat issues and no slowdown.
