btw my system is on the way, i finally purchased it on dell home, the EDD is 8/20. now i only need the 9-cell battery for it.
and maybe a case and a mouse, but these things are not so urgent.

At least you will have the 6 Cell for usage! Batteries are very important...And, now you will have some time to find a decent priced 9 cell that will work for you, and one from a *reputable seller/company*

Key, is finding a battery that is going to work well *performance wise*, and not do any potential harm to your new lappy!

yes, that's why i want an official dell battery, i don't want to to risk it.
i don't have that much time for that, because within a month i'll have to travel from the US to another country, where i think it's not even available.. so i think i should order it within a few weeks to make sure i get it before i travel.

 

i think everyone that needs a 9 cell battery should wait for now. The price increase is probably a temporary one due to supply shortages. It will likely come down in a few weeks so don't waste your money.

well, traveling is only one point. (btw i seen tests and 9 cell adds around 60% in all case which would really nice) the other point is the heat. the 9-cell lifts the back of the xps16, so the air has more space there causing running cooler. at least thats what people say.

 

The 9 cell does give great ventilation...it surely does on my 1530
And, it is a nice extra to have, along with the 6 cell! So yes, very good idea. I take my 9cell with me sometimes when I'm out and about!

yes.. i really hope they change back the price soon or that i find it somewhere cheaper (i looked for it on ebay too, i haven't found even one of it), cause i really need this and haven't got much time to get it..

 

I just took the hit and bought it with my system because I need the 9-cell and I originally didn't know I had a EPP discount so i had the $$ space to purchase it even with the higher price.

 

Just an FYI. I was looking around the Dell Outlet site and noticed that as an add-on to any Dell Outlet Studio XPS 16 laptop you can get the 9 cell battery for $80. I was told it is a brand new battery. I called and asked if I could just order it separately and they said that was fine. It is sitting on my desk right now awaiting my new Studio XPS 16 to show up. So, you might want to try there for a very good price.

edit: just speaked with them and they told its $180. then i checked it too, and it's $180 on outlet site too :S that sucks.

 

It cost $86.03 with shipping and tax. The site still lists it at $79, I just checked.

Try this:

Go to the Dell Outlet site and search for a Studio XPS 16 and add it to your cart. Then on the options page scroll down and you should see the 9-cell listed for $79 (I do right now). I just clicked the "Click to Talk" button and spoke with a person on the phone. They said they were more than happy to place the order and it totaled $79 before shipping and tax. Maybe you should try again.

I have one and a travel remote which are both pristine in the orginal boxes for 125.00 shipped in the US. PM me if you want them...I just returned my third 1640 and bought an Alienware instead.

Wow, that seems really wrong for them to have the price listed on their site and not honor it. The rep I spoke with was more than happy to honor the listed price.

I thought that was odd, I was configuring a 1340 over the weekend at the Outlet & added a 9 cell battery and it was only $79.99! ..then my order got screwed up so I couldn't go back and check that price.. So, they are actually priced at $180..too bad
