Please help. My XPS 1530 became very slow and everytime I would click on a window I got the round symbal and the screen would go white. After many reboots I saved everything of importance to an external drive and pulled out the Vista original start up disc. So I did that but for some reason only the blue tooth light comes on and the light to the left of it does not.

I click on internet and it says nothing is found. I get confused with add a network - I don't want a network I want to get back on my wireless.

I am typing from my 4 year old HP with XP and I never have these problems and it was dead easy to get onto the internet - just type in the password and I'm on.

I have had 98SE for 8 years and XP for 4 and in 4 months with Vista I can safely say that it does nothing any better than 98SE or XP did and it crashes freezes and bugs the hell out of me far more than the others combined.

Is there anyway I can load my XP start up discs for my HP onto the Dell - honestly I really want to be able to do this. Otherwise I'm going to sell the XPS 1530 - and buy a bloody Apple.

Have you reinstalled the driver for your wifi card? In your task bar near the clock, there should be like two computer monitor there, right click to it and select Network and Sharing Center. Can you see if its even connecting to your router? If not, click on the Connect Network at the left hand menus and select your wire less router from the list and hit connect...

the switch is on the bluetooth symbol lights up

How do you reinstall the driver - I have no disc for that. When I click on the computers by the clock it says Windows cannot find any networks. I selected Connect to a network - wireless and it says Windows cannot find networks

Download and save the drivers from support.dell.com on to your old notebook, then copy them to M1530 and run each executable to install.

PhoenixFX - It worked - thank you very much. And thanks to the others for trying.

It's really weird that Dell doesn't provide some sort of disc for the drivers to at least get you on the net to get the updates. If I didn't have a back-up laptop it would have been a big pain.

Thanks - I'm thinking this time I may not put my Norton 360 back on - it seemed to be a big pain in the arse as well. Any thoughts on AVG?

For freeware I'm partial to Avast although I'm using Norton AV 2009 on my desktop and I have to say I"m impressed with their changes in the new version. Much lighter app - faster, uses less resources.
