I'll be ordering my 1645 soon, and I'm curious as to whether or not I should get the 1920 x 1080 or not. Ill be using it primarily for gaming and college, so I am unsure if its worth it or not. Paying the extra bit isn't a problem. Any chance anyone could give any advice? How will the full hd effect frame rates in games?

It'll run faster in games with the lower resolution, mind you scaled resolutions don't look much worse than if you had the same resolution but on a lower res screen. It depends what games you're running, if you're running new FPS games then I'd go with the lower res since you will want to scale back the resolution but if you're confident that you can use the higher resolution and still get decent FPS on the games you use then go for higher resolution.

As for the frame rate increase, it really depends what game it is that you're playing. But you can reasonably expect at least 1.5 times the performance.

Ah. Ill probably get the lower res screen then. I plan on playing Bad company 2 online, along with a long list of many other games as well, but that will be one of the main games I play.

Get the 1920 x 1080. HD video will look better and high resolution pictures will look better.

As for gaming, the resolution is one of those things that has the biggest impact on frame rates, as well as visual quality. In theory, you can always lower the resolution of a game even if you get the 1920 x 1080, so the higher resolution just gives you another preference.

at 15.6'' i doubt there is that big of a difference between 1920x 1080 and 1600x900....the difference would be minimal if any

You should always try and get the highest resolution screen possible, the higher resolution the better the picture quality. With games you can always run them at whatever resolution you want, the native resolution of the screen wont have much of any effect on the quality. I got the 1920x1080 resolution and will play most games at 1280x720 or 1366x768 unless they run fluently at 1080p which will only be the case for older games. The most important reason to get 1920x1080 arguably would be for watching Blu-Ray.

From my experience, Dirt 2 and Modern warfare 2 run awesome in 1080p, just some examples of newer games running at 1080p. I would definitely go with the higher resolution screen. It also looks great when watching a movie.

You'd be mad NOT to go with the 1080p screen in my opinion.

if you look at both resolutions side-by-side, you will feel why 1080p is a no-brainer

If you have to get a 16:9 screen 1080p is the only way to fly. 1600x900 would be good in a much smaller notebook, but not in a 15.6in. Just my $.02
