If you want one, please PM me.

Obviously it will be a while for them to come in, but I would get on the waiting list now. Once received, I will email each on the list in order for final commitment.

I'm doing this essentially as a favor so we can all save money and get a better screen. I know mine sucks! :)

I will email you terms (price -- shipping to you will have to be determined) of purchase after PM. I can also provide some information to back my reputation (business, eBAY user, etc so you can check it out).

I need one too, sent you a pm. Mine is a slightly different experiment. I am trying to replace my Dell Inspiron 17r screen. If successful, i will post another thread in the appropriate forum.

Ah, good idea! That will surely help some people. I had the 17r for about two weeks when I decided to return it and get the XPS. The screens were/are identical from my observations, so I don't see why it wouldn't work for the 17r.

Yeah, i agree. With such a lean margin in this business most laptop manufacturers have done away with proprietary connectors and lcds.

It is a supply management nightmare to keep it that way.

My LCD hardware id is LGD021D which matches the one in XPS. Looking at some of the posts in the swapping thread the panel i have is lp173wd1.

I see no issues at all, but we will see.

    Update -- FEDEX:

    Estimated delivery

    Mar 14, 2011 by 4:30 PM

There are currently 3 COMMITTED buyers, and decent list of people I assume are waiting for this to materialize. If all screens are not claimed, I will very promptly start selling them on eBAY to make a profit.

10 screens, one is mine. I have decided it would be best to test each screen before shipping to help avoid issues. I will use my laptop to test, check for MAJOR problems and pixels. These are all NEW 'A' screens from Studio Tech, B173HW01 V.4 Glossy.

Right now the estimated final price is $120-$130 + shipping/insurance (which shouldn't be too bad within the US).

The price to order a single screen and have it shipped to you from Studio Tech is about $185 ($88 screen + $76 ship + $30 fees = $194). Shipping and transfer fees more than doubles price, so by participating in this "group buy" you're saving about $50).

    For complete terms, PM me.

small bump to get other potential NBers in line. I am very happy to go this router vs some random lcd panel store shipping substitutes.

This is Dave, posting for the first time from my sexy new 1080p XPS 17. Gotta get back to the new little one, but thought I'd update you and say these screens ROCK!!!

    I received my Dell with 435m 1gb w/Optimus and Driver Revision: 8.17.12.5951

I did not change the drivers and it booted right up into 1080p.

It's GORGEOUS! The screens are now ready for purchase. I tested each one. PM if interested. These screens are intended for purchase in the US (and Canada). Barlow can help you out in the U.K.

LOL -- I had to bring the other kids home, get 'em ready for bed, wind 'em down, etc...so I took care of all the testing and the final install of my screen in about an hour, packed in the kids, and headed back to the hospital.
