My Laptop is the XPS M1530 with NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

I decided to take a reading of my GPU after reading the other thread and it seems to be wavering on 90 Degrees and I'm only using Chrome browser and haven't been playing any games. It is connected to an external monitor, but I don't think that would affect it.

Is this too high and should I speak with Dell concerning it?

    Update

It's now reached a max of 103 degrees and all I've been doing is watching videos on youtube. Something must be seriously wrong here

    Update 2

Currently running at 98 degrees when using Google Chrome Browser

It is way too hot. You know there are problems with the GT 8600M, right? I would get it back to dell. Could be something as simple as a heat sink. Could be a complete failure of the GPU. Any warranty left?

    Just until June 2013

I've been having lots of problems with my current laptop namely; the hard drive failing, motherboard breaking, screen backlight not working and I'm having an engineer coming round tomorrow to replace the screen again as it has extremely grainy (and all those issues was just in the last week alone!)

I'm probably going to speak to them tomorrow about the GPU, I hope they'll offer a better solution, then just replacing the GPU, as they did with those on the other forum, but I'm calling from the UK so I may get through to a different department.

I would tell them before the tech comes so he will be prepared to address it. GPU is probably fixable. That seems like a lot of problems for a fairly new computer. I would suggest to the tech that you need a 16 XPS. :D

The reason I can't speak to them today about it, is because that department only opens between 8am-6pm and it's midnight in the UK.

If the GPU is fixable, how come they're giving all the owners in the other forum a free switch to the Studio, surely by doing so they're admitting that they are at fault?

I had given you some info in a thread you created on Premium Tech Support Times availability. HERE

Not sure if you checked it or not. But according to the Dell UK site, it is still be advertised as being availi' for Premium Users as 24/7. : )

You can try an help those high temps out a bit by Blasting your fans out with some Compressed Air & Cleaning up a bit if you can. That might help with the temps' a little. Not a perma' fix, but it helps me when my GPU was flailing on my 1530.

Apologies for the duplicate postings, but..

I've just used the Video Card Stability Test software to do a Benchmark for the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M Gt and I got a mark of 40

Is that a clear sign of a failing GPU?

    UPDATE

Had a technician come over today to switch my Samsung Monitor and I had him look at the GPU. It turns out one of the screws was not fitted correctly and therefore wasn't been cooled. The guy fixed it in correctly and it's now running at 68 degrees with a benchmark of 139, which is a vast improvement over this morning.
