Ok, after a long ordeal that included, crashes and vertical lines, faulty nvidia card, technician coming home, heat sink being stucked, endless chats with Dell representatives, laptop going to the depot, getting motherboard and heat sink replaced, etc... I just got my laptop back yesterday.

After experiencing certain familiar symptons (again!), I decided to run Rthdribl... After just 2 mins, the GPU temp (measured with CPUID Hardware Monitor) rose to 95C very fast! I got scared and stopped it there (so who knows if it could get even higher).

I guess this is not normal, and that I may have gotten another faulty video card, right?

Just trying to confirm my thoughts.. Thanks!

Actually it is normal for the m1330, although high.

Applying the copper mod will drop your load temps about 20 degrees.

Just keep the foam pad to reverse the mod if you send it for warranty repair.

95c is pretty high, that's the temperature my desktop 4850 got up to with modified fan profiles.

Make sure yours system is free from dust and buy a cooling pad to help keep the temps down.

Thanks for the answers! Should I contact Dell to get my MOBO replaced again?

BTW, I haven't done the copper mod. I've read about it here, but I think it's something I'm not expert enough to do by myself :)

Maybe a member here who is in your city can do the mod for you for a fee. Where are you located?

I'm in Florida, I may give it a try myself too (following the instructons here carefully).

However, I'm still concerned that, even with the copper mod, there's still a big problem. I should not be getting 95C (so soon when stressed) right after the mobo has been replaced. I was expecting it to behave and last at least another 6 months! lol

Why don't you just call Dell and tell them that your laptop are so **** hot and this is certainly not normal for a laptop since " you had many laptop before" (maybe)
I'm not recommend you to do the mod... cause you won't be sure if it gonna work and you are just void your warranty forever ... what if after 2 months your motherboard die! you gonna buy a new laptop? So think for yourself ... but I won't suggest you to do the mod!
Remember after 3 major change on your laptop Dell have to give you a new laptop!

Mine had exactly the same temperatures, 95 on load, did the copper mod and now it has never passed 75 degrees...

The mod is a killer, you should definitely try it, i don't think you have a "defective" mobo, its just a design flaw that you have to workaround by yourself.

At least in my case i haven't experienced any problems whatsoever to this day... i run guitar hero 3, max payne, FEAR, and no problems till now....

get the copper mod done asap!

    Thanks again!

I think I'm going to get the MOBO replaced again. After that, I'll try to convince myself about doing the copper mod. Let's see!
