No it is not. You should be maxing out around 85c.

You might wanna re-apply thermal paste or undervolt the cpu.

Yes, those temps are too high, by a good margin. You should probably be seeing GPU downclocking at those kind of temps, but even if you're not its too hot to be acceptable.

The first thing you should do is clean your fan/exhaust vent (of dust etc).

The next thing you should do is update your bios to most recent (because when you call dell they will make you do it anyway).

Finally call Dell. They will replace the motherboard and/or cooling unit. Only consider other options (ie trying to lower temps yourself by undervolting, thermal paste, copper mod etc) if your warranty is already expired.

But remember that Dell have extended the warranty of the GPU (and related problems) by 1 year. So basically let Dell try to fix it, it should be their problem and not yours.

One of the few countries left that use a less efficient standard lol.

Back on topic - if you don't want your laptop scratched, take pictures of the system and include them with a little note that says please handle with care :). You get what you ask for! If you don't ask for anything, then you leave it up to the hands of the graceful Dell technicians.

Good for you, water freezing point, 32F(vs 0C), and boiling point 212F(vs 100C), very good system indeed ;)

@OP , Your system's fan is not doing it`s job.
Either you have a ton load of dust in it, or you're blocking the vents/fans .
Those are among the highest temps I've heard for the m1530, so 100% sure they`re not withing the design for it.

Max CPU temp should be 75-80C worst case, and 85C for the GPU.

Celsius and Metric system FTW !!!

Anyway, 90+ for anything is pretty dangerous.
To give you an example, my usual gaming temp without cooler is about 78 (max prolly 80), but with a cooler and depends on how 'heavy' the game is, it is about 69 on old games and 75 on newer games

I have m1530 as well and good luck when sending back

    Cheers :D

Your heat sink has to be replaced.
The max it can get is 85 C ( coz that is what i get without cooler).

If you want your max temp to go below 85 C, get a laptop cooler.

That's my m1530 idling temperatures with my own custom built monster laptop cooler. ;)

Hey my temps have gone down 10 degrees after the technition changed my fan:

    Idle
    GPU 55-63
    CPU 44-56

    Load
    GPU 79-80
    CPU 72-77

    is this acceptable?

I am still kind of worried about my CPU. its a T7800 (65nm) 2.6GHz and its got core #0 at 74 and core#1 at 77. Is this all normal?

Yup the new idle and load temps are normal.

You might wanna have a look at the undervolting guide if you want it even cooler with no performance loss.

Yes if it has personal infomation, i suggest you use something like Killdisk and restore it back to the factory image.

    Mind sharing this Monster Cooler?

I have temp issues as well, though I see no end effect to these temps I don't think it healthy to let them remain. Note that my temps only rise during graphically intense gaming, idle and normal use is fine. I use a Targus cooler that helps, but I would rather see considerably lower temps.

Yes, as joeytav says same as that thread. But I have to say 103 may be the high score. You are now 3 degrees past boiling water. And NO - it is absolutely not normal. Is it brand new? If so, whatever QC technician tested that thing and let it pass through should be shot.

Edit: Also, as flipfire said the roof is 85c. You don't want to pass that. Any time you do pass 85c you can be sure there is a problem with your cooling system (the thermal pads that Dell uses are junk).
